Loosing joystick config and keybinding - how to backup?

Hi.

For some reason, I've lost all my joystick config/keybindings twice in the last few weeks. It happened after a game's crash (I'm suspecting that I may have a faulty RAM module, but I digress).

Since then, I've reconfigured the bindings and copied (backup) the "data/input" folder to a cloud drive. Yesterday it happened again, and when I restored the backup, surprisingly some keybindings were absent and I had to recheck everything again.
Is there another place where IL-2 stores the axis/keybindings setup, that I should backup too?

Note: My joys haven't changed order in Windows, if this helps.

Cheers.

To save the "data/input" folder is already the right way to backup your settings.

But I bet Il 2 changed the Joystick number in the keybinding settings (i.e. from joy_0 to joy_1).

Just check in the settings which number your joystick got before and which one it has now, (the old joy_0 setting should still be there).

then go to the device.txt file in the "data/input" folder and change the first number in the line of your Joystick in the device.txt (in this example from 1 to 0) and save it.

Then your old keybinding files should work again.

Thanks CorvusX, but as I've mentioned, my joys didn't changed assignments (neither in windows or IL2). The keybindings were blank, only default values, and a few others with different options. It was like someone messed with assignments, using different keys for some functions. Some returned to default, others changed, complete mess.
Nobody besides me uses the computer (I live alone), so I simply don't have a clue what is happening.

Anyway, thanks for your help. Did the backup, hope it sticks this time.

Cheers

Instead of backing up the complete input folder  make a BU of the files "current.actions, .map and .responses (and maybe devices, txt). Test them by copying them out from the folder, remming out the once in the folder, (by putting a - in the beginning of the file) putting the BUs back and see if they are what you expect. If so put them in a new folder for backup and remove the - from the file.  Hope this helps

Hi FlyingH, thanks for your suggestion. I haven't tried doing this "selective backup" (only full folder), but I'll try. I'm traveling at the moment, so I'll be able to test this only after 24th March.
