Chuck_Owl Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 (edited) Holy shmollies. Some of these birds make me drool already. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=123391 VEAO Simulations Ltd, London, 22nd April 2014. VEAO Simulations are pleased to announce that we are in contract to develop the “DCS Warbirds Collection” for the DCS World flight simulator. For the first iteration, the following aircraft modules are being developed: HA-112 Hispano Buchon Supermarine Spitfire Mk XIV F8F-Bearcat Curtiss P-40F All aircraft will have the External Flight Model (EFM) and Advanced Systems Modelling (ASM) to DCS fidelity standards. As with all of our modules, we will develop these aircraft to military specifications. The modules in the collection will be released separately, as they are developed, and will be sold for $39.99 each. We expect the first module to be ready at the end of this year (Q4 2014) with the remaining modules expected for release up to Q2 2015. Future aircraft in the collection are being discussed, as well as terrain maps, and further details will be announced at an appropriate time. A separate team is working on these modules which will not affect development of any current module. We would like to thank the Fighter Collection and Eagle Dynamics for their continued support, as well as you, the community, for the overwhelming support you give us. Chris and the VEAO team. ram0506 Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 No matter what we think about those named aircrafts. The good news is, that already a first 3rd party developer is projecting additional WW2 content for DCS.
Feathered_IV Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 How odd. Were the aircraft carefully chosen so that they deliberately have no context to one another? 2
ram0506 Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 How odd. Were the aircraft carefully chosen so that they deliberately have no context to one another? That`s exactly what I thought. But as I sad, for me the most important part of the announcement is, that we will have another developer dedicated to WW2 planes. And they are also thinking about developing new maps.
DD_Crash Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Seems like a strange collection. Why an other Spit when Luthier is developing one It is very good to see more WW2 stuff though
ATAG_Slipstream Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 They are probably making planes depending on what they have direct access to. The Fighter Collection at Duxford have those planes. Be good to see a DCS level Mossie in the future.
MarcoRossolini Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Spit XIV will be an interesting addition to Normandy... did it serve there? The rest, whilst interesting... where do they fit in?
Bladderburst Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Buchon... Interesting but where did it serve?
MarcoRossolini Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Spanish used them didn't they...? (yay, counterfactual Spanish civil war taking place after WWII, democratic uprising back by Western Allies composed of Spits and Bearcats vs Franco's Buchons and P-40s... hmm... there's something in this...)
BraveSirRobin Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 I hope someone is planning to build some aircraft that you can fly against those aircraft.
TX-Gunslinger Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 VEAO's Buchon (as Avia) vs Ilya's Spitfire IX are the classic 1948 adversaries for the 1st Arab-Israeli War. P-40F and Bearcat make me wonder if another group is going to announce projects.....
Requiem Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Very exciting times ahead for DCS if everything goes as planned for them. In the next year or two there are going to be some great aircraft to fly around in (Hawk, Hornet, and Spit in particular for me). Although sometimes the aircraft selections by these 3rd party groups makes me wonder if there is just some big duffel bag at DCS with a bunch of aircraft in it and they just get whatever they pull out at random. 1
Bounder Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 (edited) I think if you put that list together with the list of ac being made by RPG it makes more sense - 109K4 vs Spit mkXIV, HA-112 Hispano Buchons vs Spit mkIX. As for the Buchon I can't imagine it will be a popular a/c but it seems there simply isn't enough RL data or access to flying 109G to make them up to DCS standard - ED/RPG wanted to make one but this was the stumbling block. The VEAO team have access to airworthy HA-112 Hispano Buchons and there's tons of data on them. Looking good on that front and on the eastern front we have BoS so for me as a WW2 flight sim fan it's all excellent, we really are being spoiled rotten. Edited April 22, 2014 by Bounder
LLv34_Flanker Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 S! Israeli war had Czech made Avia-109's with Jumo engines. Often called as "Donkey" due the handling features.

Tektolnes Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 They're making the planes that they want to fly to start off with. With the Buchon they have access via Duxford to airworthy models, access to the live engine, etc. They'll also probably be able to get feedback on their flight model from real Buchon pilots. As Yo-Yo mentioned when talking about the P51-D getting feedback from real life Mustang pilots was invaluable when perfecting the flight model. ED / TFC links will also be very useful when doing the other planes in their list. The Fighter Collection has a Spit XIV, Bearcat and P-40F so their pilot flight model feedback is really going to help. 1
