Hello and thanks for viewing this!

I just updated Steam VR and want to know what settings to use... I have an Oculus Rift CV1

When I look at the General settings tab it says that the refresh rate is 90 Hz (90 fps) and there is no option to change it to 45 Hz (45 fps). It's the same in the Video tab, no way to change this.

Then when I go to Video settings to adjust Super Sampling (SS) there is no way to add programs to Per Application Video Settings, so I take it I should use Custom resolution in the Video settings tab? The Render Resolution setting has two options: Setting it to Auto, what does this do? And Setting it to Custom, the Resolution per eye at 100% is 1344 x 1600, is this the native resolution of the Rift CV1? (can't seem to find what the native resolution is on the internet) If not, what should I set it to? I want to start with the Rift's native resolution and see what my fps is in game, then add SuperSampling until I find the 'sweet spot'.

I'd like to have ASW either on auto or locked to 45 fps.

If I set resolution to 100% (1344 x 1600) in Steam VR, am I best off using Oculus Tray Tool to add SS and change ASW settings?

I look forward to your replies, I've been away from IL-2 for some time and I'm wanting to check out my new U-2VS biplane over the Kuban mountains!

Cheers,

Algy-Lacey

Use oculus tray tool for setting super sampling not Steam VR.

I would also recommend Open Compsite instead of Steam VR as it's more efficient for IL-2 unless of course your library is in Steam inwhich case you're stuck.

Thanks for the advice Georgio.

I've tried Open Composite and my antivirus program said that the .exe file was dodgy, so I removed it from my hard drive.

I would still like to know what the native resolution of the Rift CV1 is, and what settings to choose in Steam VR if I want to use Oculus Tray Tool.

Set resolution to manual in Steam VR and 100%.

Use Oculus Tray Tool with a profile for IL-2 to set your SS - start with about 1.3 and work up from there depending on performance.

Open Composite though is really the way to go for performance.

Cool, that will be easier than I thought it would be.

One question: Which site should I get OTT from? I want it to be a legitimate download. How about this one, d'ya reckon it's safe? https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/oculus-traytool-download.html

Thanks

You should be fine, Gruru3d is listed as a mirror.

Or you can get it direct from the source.

Nothing wrong with Open Composite it's an excellent program and certainly more efficient than Steam VR.

If you want to use Steam VR then I would say leave the SS settings at 100% so on the bar as it were and apply SS in OTT instead.

Try alternating between both to see which looks and performs the best, but certainly on my setup I get the best visuals and performance from using Open C with OTT.
