Failed to Update

Hello,

 

I am returning to the sim after a few month hiatus but am having trouble updating the game (trying to download 4.004). Every time I open the launcher, I get "Checking Version" and then "Failed to Update" a few seconds later. I've probably looked at all the other "failed to update" threads out there and so I've tried the following:

• deleting the "updates" folder where my "IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles" is saved
• replacing the "launcher.exe" and "rofuplib64.dll" in the bin/game folder per a developer's suggestion in another thread
• disabling firewall / Windows Defender
• removing IL-2 from my PC and doing a clean install; didn't work, so tried doing the above three things again, to no avail

 

None of these measures worked unfortunately, so I would appreciate some pointers to other troubleshooting measures. One suspicion I have is that I recently got a new internet plan (but the same provider). Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but if you know how I can check on my network which might be causing issues, I'm all ears.

I have this problem every time an update comes out. Sometime I can get it to work by randomly deleting  things like mentioned above. Sometimes not. I rarely play this sim anymore because of this headache.

deletes only the Update folder from this address.

 

your Disc:\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\updates

 

if you can't, go back, but don't delete anything else, no more folders. Good Luck
