Unfortunately, no. But I understand why you ask about it. Never swap horses while crossing the stream; current technologies are made for Windows platform. But if the online mode will be popular then we'll once again think about it.

The devs already answered Windows 8 will be supported in one of the dev diaries. I am 101% sure Windows 7 will be on the list as well.

 

I am more interested if the 64-bit support is coming and if they decided to go for 64-bit exclusively (or both 32/64 with two separate executables)

They were referring to the dedicated server.. and to be honest, there are benefits of having a Linux dedicated server available (such as Linux hosting providers being way way more cheaper compared to licensed Windows servers).

Surely they will, I will be somewhat disappointed if they do not have at least a 64 bit version, if not all 64 bit.

Yes IL2 runs on Windows 7 64bit.

I am running 3 versions at the moment all concurrently in 3 separate folders

1946 patched to 4.11.1 native install

1946 UP3 version

1946 UP3/DBW version

all running superbly

 I am not 100% sure but I think XP is still the most used OS in the world and like I am a hardware specialist I am always amazed at the number of Pentium 1 that are still in use!
