BF-109 gun sight and firing accuracy

Hello, pilots! Feldwebel here :)

I watched this awesome video about a german REVI gun sight. The video explains how do a correct lead when you are on enemy's six but your flightpaths are not parallel.

Like I said, the video is great but I have a question.

Lets say I am on low six of poor ivan and he does not know I am there. It looks like this:

He fills half of my gun sight, so he is 200 meters away from me. So, the question is: How to calculate lead when I am exactly at the enemy's six?

I mean, if he is right in the middle of my gun sight and I start shooting my projectiles will go slightly below him. This is especially true when I am aiming at the wing's root. He notices tracers quickly and starts evasive maneuver. I would like to know how to calculate my gun sight position based on range between us so my first projectiles will hit right in his wing. I suppose those vertical tick marks should help somehow?

maybe it sounds simple....

but you know know the "mechanics"  , effectivaly  many times you need "anticipated shot" , based on distance, angle and kind of ammo u use.

Observate all your aims... and practice.

thats all. practice.

Yeah, practice is good, but there has to be numbers.

I'd try practicing your trigger discipline because at 200 yards you should be hitting him or maybe even a bit high depending on your convergence setting. What I'm saying is you may be dipping the nose just a little by squeezing the trigger. Try the same shot but use the space bar and see if the bullets are still falling low. Try it with a convergence of 230m to test your convergence pattern

Everything depends on your convergence settings. I personally am using 400m convergence, since I find it perfect for 8mms, 13mms, 20mms and 30mms. But I am shooting at around 50 meters distance.

Put the gunsight just below him and let the nose of your plane very gently rise up.  Fire just before he "drops" into the dead center of the sight and follow through with your plane's gentle rise up.  It should only take a quick burst to hit.  The upward momentum of your plane should be enough to cause the first couple of rounds to also travel upward into him.

Or, If you're fast enough, and he's unaware of you at 200m, you can risk that he'll stay unaware of you at 100m or less.  Then you can fill the gunsight completely and point-blank him into the next universe.

The time it takes you to calculate distance is when you lose the guns solution. Just shoot out of gut feeling. Rough estimate. You‘ll find yourself getting better with experience. Shoot from so close that you just cannot miss. Don‘t spray from too far, unless it‘s only MG.

you‘ll find yourself in similar situation more and more, and there you know how you had to aim the last time this similar situation occurred.

just shoot, shoot a lot and you‘ll get the feel for it. Don‘t worry about running out of ammo in the beginning.
