cardboard_killer Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 (edited) Quick, stupid question: I have a IR light head tracker powered by usb port. I assume I should unplug it when I'm not using it to save the life of the lights, but thought I'd check to be sure. Edited February 27, 2020 by cardboard_killer typed uv for some reason
AndyJWest Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 UV? I thought they used IR? TrackIR does, anyway (hence the name), and you don't need to unplug it to turn it off. With most light sources these days (e.g. LEDs), life expectancy is more down to on-off cycles than use time, so I wouldn't worry about it. I suspect that the USB socket might be the first thing to fail if you are plugging and unplugging things into it a lot. 1 1
