smink1701 Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 FINALLY got a chance to place the updated version this weekend. -Really like the new hanger -Clouds are amazing! -The Fly-by is new and I really like it. Have some new exterior camera angles been added? -Some new DM stuff I've never seen before ...shot up a Pe-2 and shot out one of his landing gear -Also got a few hits from the same Pe-2 and the impact sounds are new and really cool -FM seems a bit better on the 109, a little less nervous. -Still at 45% !!! Another amazing update from the Dev Team
ShamrockOneFive Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Agreed! Definitely coming along nicely. I too noticed the 109 and most planes in general being less twitchy in my time flying it tonight and the 109 definitely seems a bit more manageable. You can still get into trouble with it which is fine to me but its ok now I think.
WindyCityZeke Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 I got blasted a couple of times today in multiplayer, never heard a hit. One time I looked behind and saw smoke coming out of my plane, never knew I was even hit. Can't wait for the hit sounds to be fully installed.
arjisme Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Did you cook your engine? That might explain the smoke with no hit sounds.
Tektolnes Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Did you cook your engine? That might explain the smoke with no hit sounds. There's often no hit sounds at all when you take damage yet you can hear your rounds striking an enemy plane from a fair distance back. Needs to be fixed at some point.
Schmalzfaust Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Not sure, but is speed of sound now implemented?
WindyCityZeke Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Did you cook your engine? That might explain the smoke with no hit sounds. No
JG5_UnKle Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Not sure, but is speed of sound now implemented? I noticed that, distant explosion sounds now seem like they are obeying the speed of sounds as there is a definite delay that I'm certain wasn't there before.
smink1701 Posted April 21, 2014 Author Posted April 21, 2014 yeah, I forgot about the sound delay. I really hope they add the well - documented dirty exhaust smoke from the 109. This was partly due to the low quality synthetic fuel the Germans used. Allied pilots said they could tell when 109 pilots used maximum power because they could see a big belch of black smoke.
Rjel Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 I noticed that, distant explosion sounds now seem like they are obeying the speed of sounds as there is a definite delay that I'm certain wasn't there before. I just watched a replay of my bombing a rail bridge from the locomotive's POV. I can see my plane dive on the bridge, pull up and away, then the flash of the explosion and smoke. I'd guesstimate the train was a mile away from the bridge when I heard the explosion maybe 3-4 seconds after the flash. It is definitely cool and sounded very much like a distant explosion.
kendo Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 (edited) Not sure, but is speed of sound now implemented? Yes. it is definitely implemented now. Verified this by accident when I made a very rough landing a few days ago. The plane ended up way off the runway in the snow, but intact and still on wheels - not a bad landing actually by my standards. I had a little play around - hit the F3 key and the camera was positioned about 100m or so in front of the aircraft. Then I tried firing cannon and machine guns. Very cool effect - there was the zipping sound of the rounds passing close by the camera position as the tracer shot past, followed a short time later by the sound-delayed report of the cannon and MGs. Very, very cool. I liked it so much I recorded a track. Not sure if the sound of the rounds zipping past can be recreated by hitting F3 when the plane is on the runway - I may have got lucky with positioning as the aircraft came to rest on a slope. FuriousMeow Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 (edited) Sound attenuation and delay/sound of speed based on distance has been there from the beginning. Edited April 26, 2014 by FuriousMeow
smink1701 Posted April 26, 2014 Author Posted April 26, 2014 I also think pitch sensitivity has been toned down a tad ... not quite as twitchy.
Nage Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 The patch before the last one they (probably unintentionally) introduced blur "effect" in the clouds which reflects on planes also. Anybody else noticed that? There was some talking about it on TS AFAIK...
FuriousMeow Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 You mean a lower texture resolution with the clouds. I don't see any difference with the planes. Motion blur is not being applied to clouds.
Nage Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 (edited) Here are the examples (I left the pics at 100% zoom, but cropped them). The effect appears only when looking at the plane in external view WHEN it is in the clouds. Or when looking at the clouds (horizon) from the runway. Also it seams indeed that the clouds are a bit low res when looking from the pit. Like I said some folks already mentioned that in MP. I have cinematic effect unticked so its not motion blur. I've seen that before in other titles. I haven't looked for/seen it with the new clouds, I'll have to look. The term I've always seen used is de-resing. Looks like the resolution has gone down to 800x600 or so. Something to be worried about when things aren't just newly introduced. Worth reporting, but not worth making a fuss about unless we were at 90% complete. Edited April 26, 2014 by FuriousMeow 1
cobbman11 Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 I noticed that blur effect when I lowered my settings from ultra to balanced. Not sure if that's actually the cause or if I was just not noticing it before. I'll have to test that later tonight.

It started two weeks ago. Anytime you look at an aircraft that is in front of a cloud it looks like that (not just in external view btw). I use Ultra graphic settings and I'm having the same issue. Nothing to worry about though. I'm sure the devs will take care of it. It was already reported a few times in the bug report section! http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/2091-graphics-models-and-maps/?p=110137 http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/2091-graphics-models-and-maps/?p=110111
