Few questions about Battle of Bodenplatte

Hi all!

I recently purchased BOBP and I have a few beginner questions. I also dropped these on the Steam discussion forum, but didn't really get answers there, so I thought I'd try it here:

  1. I want to do a Tempest career, but it seems I can't load any bombs. I Tried a few different squadrons, started campaign as lead and tried different stages of the campaign, but no joy. Am I missing something here? (also, shouldn't the Tempest be able to carry rockets as well?)
  2. Are there any plans of adding pilot body models in the VR cockpit? I feel totally amputated when I'm in the cockpit ?
  3. I just did a simple sqn relocation flight and came across an easy enemy ground target. Thought I might as well take it out. So I ordered my wingman to attack ground targets, which they did, but... They all started flying in a really tight trail formation, started their attack dive in trail formation and all started shooting eachother in the back! Only my no.8 survived. What the heck?! Again, am I missing something here? Or is il-2 AI even worse than DCS AI? ?
  4. Is it somehow possible to rearm/refuel. I googled it and apparently I should stop in a service area, shut down the engine and hit the rearm key, but how do I recognize a service area? (are these also available in solo campaigns?)

Tempests didn't start employing bombs until May 1945, and rockets similarly were not used until some time after that.

Ah thanks, that explains it then.

Any words on the other questions? In particular about question 4, on how to rearm?

(I just did a mission where my base was attacked. I was able to shoot down 2 fighters, but by that time I was out of ammo. Only thing I could do was, either fly around, trying not to get shot, or land and exit the mission. Would be nice to be able to rearm and rejoin the fight)

Re-arming and refueling is a feature only in multiplayer right now.

If you fly mp. You will find some missions where Tempest got bombs. I think mission makers let us have them so we can play tiffy pilots

It is a feature that can be implemented by Mission Editor in any type of mission, not only multiplayer.
There are already some single player missions that have this feature.
Regarding the AI, yeah, I wish it was better :(

There are no good ai around. They are tweaked better as time goes in all simulators comparable. It is a long time since I flown old IL 2 and my standards change since then.
But I remember it as best I experienced ever after 10 years development.
This is why I cut some slack on the subject. It is expected to be a work in progress as long as this sim progress.
I think we will end up with best there is eventually, we have never seen a cfs progress and produce so fast ever before like this have

And user made missions or scripted campaigns...

Thanks for the feedback guys  ?

Are there any good user made Bodenplatte campaigns out there yet? Tried to search for them on the specific subforum, but without success (maybe still to early for that?)

Or is there a way to filter my search to Bodenplatte content?

I agree, but I also think that before we move to Normandy project there should be more work force allocated to current AI bug fixes.

I stopped completely playing career because AI always races with you towards your home base airfield every mission in Boddenplate.

I find the ai in scripted campaign less aggressive now than before. They can mess you up but are far more cautious when you got a gunner firing at them. I am on my third tour of Sea Dragons.
I find my mates to be mates, enemy act historical. I read in many books that not always was a swarm of german fighters that eager to attack. In special in Kuban campaign. Attacks seemed some times half hearted and ended up with a damaged attacker.
so in my perspective during a relative short time ai have made Sea Dragons from great to excellent
