Sandinourcoffee6 Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 are AI effected and maybe blinded by looking into the sun? is this too hard to implement into the game ? It would certainly give good pilots attacking out of the sun a big advantage. i am not moaning because the AI is just getting really so much better, is it something that’s possible and even on the drawing board?
Cavalier Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 The AI are completely unaffected by visibility. They can maneuver and shoot you while in clouds. They can definitely hit in the sun as well.

Feathered_IV Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 Some time ago when the clouds were first revamped the AI was able to see through them again. 1

When an enemy aircraft flies into the clouds and and I still can see the prop in the clouds, I will follow it and shoot at it. You just should have an eye on your artificial horizon, so you still know in which direction you are flying.

And we both know this.
Sandinourcoffee6 Posted March 1, 2020 Author Posted March 1, 2020 maybe it would be too much for the AI planes to be effected by the glare of the sun, but I just wonder if something can be done about AA gunners having poor success when shooting into the sun, as they would be blind and just shooting out of hope, it would be something very hard to implement because of ( time of day, clouds,) I do know that if you look in your mirror in your plane with the sun behind you,you just see round disc with no glare, this was talked about but it was said the conclusion of this was it would take to many resourches, so maybe it’s the same , but I do think it’s something that should be added in the future if possible

I am all with Socrates on this, 'I know, that I don't know' But honestly, the only time an AI shot at me while I was in a cloud, he was close enough, that he might have been able to see my propeller spin. But yes, when I fly as wingman in career and campaign missions, I often wonder, how my flightleader was able to spot enemy aircrafts under the clouds, not to forget ground targets.
Sandinourcoffee6 Posted March 1, 2020 Author Posted March 1, 2020 no real pilot would shot at something that they can not see ( ie sun glare,or darkness) most planes only have a limit on ammo so they would not waste it,maybe AA gunners would shot blind, it is certainly something that should be thought about putting into the AI code. i think the devs have done great things with the AI, so I do not want to complain it’s just something that could be looked into
cardboard_killer Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 Do g-forces affect defensive gunners? I seem to often get shot while a bomber is taking a substantial turn. I've not flown myself as a gunner, but I would think the disorientation of rolling the plane back and forth defensively makes hitting anything difficult, as it should.
Sandinourcoffee6 Posted March 1, 2020 Author Posted March 1, 2020 just a question, in real life what did pilots do when they ran out of ammo, did they radio their flight and stick around,or did they just break of and fly back to base alone? i know fighter pilots would be told to save some ammo for the trip home, but I do think lots of pilots ran out of ammo in the heat of battle. so yes what do the AI pilots in the game do when they run out of ammo,do they fly back to their base ( we never know if they run out of ammo or not)

But they don't return to their base, but land at the next friendly airfield, like they do when their aircraft is damaged.
Sandinourcoffee6 Posted March 1, 2020 Author Posted March 1, 2020 well that’s ok,at least they do not land at enemy airfields, well if you run out of ammo you pretty useless in battle,I thought maybe they might hang around to show strength in numbers and scare the enemy and to scare the enemy into thinking they were a threat, I myself if I ran out of ammo would fly back to my base or if they ran out of fuel or were to heavily damaged, belly land in a field and try to get back to friendly lines
dburne Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 I start my return to base when getting very low on ammo. Never know what you might run across on the return, better to not be empty handed.
