ITAF_Airone1989 Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 (edited) Hi to all, today I tried to rise up to 1.2 my gamma correction, then in Combat Box it's seems like I have a better spotting for low airplanes. Expecially I can sae an A-20 taking off (min: 00:50, from left end of runway) and I don't lost the P-38 next to the ground when I was getting closer, also if I checked my cockpit. For sure it changes by hardware settings, but for me high gamma seems to work better and not influence spotting to high airplanes (min: 03:48, I'm diving from high left corner) Let me know what do you think about that.. A-20 Take off - 00:50 Diving: 3:47 P-38 over the wood, 4:31 Edited February 25, 2020 by ITAF_Airone1989 Grammar mistake

This are my settings.. I think that if you decrease the gamma than you will have a lot of trouble when you try to spot on forest... 1

Same (just high preset) as posted above , most ppl use less gamma , like editing cfg file and setting it to 0.6. I use to use low gamma , but from some time I prefer 1.0. Sharpen is the single most significant setting that enhance spotting IMHO. You could have rest same and just turn sharpen on and see the difference immediately. RedKestrel Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 I have kept my gamma at 0.8 for a while, but I may experiment with raising it again - it does make the game quite dark at times. I did try lower than that at one point and found on my setup that the game just looked ugly and dark, and my spotting did not seem to improve. I think a lot will depend on your monitor and how it is calibrated, the game settings are just one of the possibilities. So when someone tells you their gamma settings in game, it doesn't tell you much unless they have the exact same monitor calibrated the same way as yours.

I had the impression that it was better when I tested it with the Rift S, so I'm glad to see that impression wasn't a placebo and I don't have to go back through tuning settings! I just tried turning SSAO on, and my initial impression from a very short test time is that is makes objects a bit more difficult to pick out against their surroundings. Is this also a pretty known thing and I should turn it off? Or should I leave it on and give it some more time?
