Ref T&L Tutorial and Il-2 Sturmovik UE, Dwn lded from Excaliber disk EP-IL2-DVD, which only refs winxp

I have 2 lap tops one with 7 and one with 10, the faster one with 10. On 7 FMB by trial and error as opposed to non existent 7 instructions,
I am able to complete the tutorial thru a.c. For mission there is nothing in the briefing box and starts with the a.c. in the air with eng runing.
The a.c. can be flown to find runway and landed.
How do I get a.c. to show up on ground in TO position in win7 ????????

Different story for 10, I can only get as far as "index of single missions", There is NO new folder selection. How do I create one here and are
there any other road blocks to finish???????? Any help to get it on 10 wld be greatly appreciated!

Are you sure you're looking at the mission builder for Il-2 Great Battles, and not the one for the older Il-2 game released in 2001?

What I have is a disk labeled as above 2013 and includes "Forgotten Battles", where the FMB is.

I have since posting found a ton of videos on utube which I am in the process of searching any help would be appreciated.

Yes, that is the old version of Il-2. Forgotten Battles is one of the expansions of the old Il-2. It was mostly developed in the Windows XP era. It does work on Windows 7 and 10 though. I didn't realize they were still releasing DVDs for it in 2013 though.

I'm not sure how many people on this forum still play and build missions in the old Il-2 - the newest, most up to date version of old Il-2 is Il-2 1946...I believe it is up to patch 4.14 now - it has been updated for a while by an official Mod team.

mission4today.com and SAS1946.com are two forums that are still active playing and using mostly Il-2 1946 and previous versions like the one you have, you may get some help there. There are some good mission building tutorials for the basics on Mission4Today at least.

Red, first & foremost, many thks for your replies. I concluded I am banging my head against the wall trying to make a old program user friendly? in10. Hence, what is the latest release of IL2 and does it couple with 10 as my copy couples with XP and where can I purchase???

My situation? I am a old(88) retired mil pilot, with limited computer skills, currently watching grass grow, paint dry, snow melt and looking to IL2 for a escape?

The game you're playing right now is basically Il-2 1946. That game, and Il-2 Great Battles  developed here, are different games with different engines, just sharing a name. The newest version of Il-2 1946 is 4.14, the updated version administered by Team Dadalos, the 'official' mod team that has been updating the main version. There are a huge number of mods out there for the game.

Il-2 Great Battles is the newest game. It works well with Windows 10. Il-2 Great Battles updates itself automatically. For most of its features to work, it needs an internet connection.

Il-2 1946 is playable on Windows 7 and 10, I have done it, but I never did try and use the mission builder on Windows 10. I did use it a bit on Windows 7. I don't think the operating system makes much of a difference in how the mission builder functions. The mission builder in old Il-2 is supposed to be a little less powerful than the one in new Il-2, but people generally found the mission builder more user friendly.

The knowledge base on Mission4Today can be very helpful with tutorials, installation guides, updating the software, and other things. You could also post over there with any issues you are having getting things to work on your setup. http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=Knowledge_Base

There are guides on installing, patching, mission building etc.

You can also post in the Il-2 1946 section of this forum here: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/forum/122-il-2-sturmovik-1946/ They may have more idea on how to help you.

If your computer will run Il-2 Great Battles, I would definitely advise you to get into it. The flight models are leaps and bounds better IMO, the graphical detail is much better... in most ways its a better game.

That being said, there is nothing wrong with Il-2 1946 - there are tons of planes to fly, lots of maps, and lots of missions and campaigns made by many dedicated people over the years.

Now is a great time as there are a lot of things on sale...Battle of Bodenplatte has gone on sale much earlier than expected so if you like late war planes and scenarios its a good buy. As long as you have a computer that will run it well, of course.
