Was this feature update abandoned?

American, British and German infantrymen models for Bodenplatte project are finished - they will man the guns, drive the vehicles and appear as airfield personnel. And here's the model of the Royal Air Force pilot for Summer of 1944.

From this Dev Blog and pictured below:

They aren't manning the guns.

And they aren't manning the airfields.

They're present to an extent, but just on the AAA track and the Flak 38. So what exactly happened to this update?

Maybe they realised that infantry personnel don't service aircraft?

Not abandoned, as a matter of fact this was already delivered with Bodenplatte.

I think you are missing the fact that those units you are showing are german (regardless of the country you assign them).

If you select allied vehicles such as the Jeep or the GMC truck you will see allied soldiers. Also the airfield ammo blocks show US or GB troops walking around if you assign them the right country.

Would still be nice to see the updated, new German uniforms too. They look good.

They were added to Bodenplatte objects which is what they were meant for. They did not replace existing soldier models for existing objects.

I'm not missing anything, mate. Perhaps they should have worded it better via the description so as to not be misleading. Rereading it now however, it seems intentionally vague.

Probably not going to happen. BoBp features a new animation system that's far more in-depth than what was used for the previous titles, meaning they'd have to rewrite a whole slew of anims and their associated model cfg's to work. I'm messing around with it for my War in the West mod but it's hit and miss.

Not to say they won't do it, simply that I find it highly unlikely given that they didn't do any of it for Bodenplatte. They didn't update all the German infantry models for Bodenplatte, they didn't update any of the German vehicles for Bodenplatte, and they didn't update the camouflage schemes for the German vehicles for Bodenplatte (late-war) as they're all still the BoS '42 defaults.

Hell, there are Soviet manned trains and Katyusha rocket batteries running around the map.

Got it. Appreciate the clarification, Jason.

Can understand the issue if a new, improved animation system has been used.

Also, I realised the new Bodenplatte German infantry soldier pictured is wearing a late war style uniform with the shorter boots, so probably not suitable to use for the earlier scenarios.

I had noticed the continued use of the grey colour for German transport vehicles, when the switch was made to the yellow base colour by '44 (can't remember precise date of the switch - I think it was early '43, so would apply to Kursk as well.) The German tanks are using the base yellow. Hoping they can update for the other vehicles too at some point. Probably not a huge priority in the overall scheme though.
