The earpiece on my Logitech G35 snapped off and it can't be salvaged. I'm not really up to date on decent gaming headsets since I bought it back in 2010. I can't really spend more than maybe $100 on one, but I need something which can record good vocal audio for my videos and has room for the Track IR Pro clip on it. USB is preferred as I don't have a dedicated sound card.

Anyone have any recommendations for what they use? I could always try and get another G35 if they still make them, but I figure that its been a few years since they were out so there might be something out there that is cheaper and better. I'd hate to get another G35 only to have the same problems.

Cheers

Thanks guys, I spent a bit of time today reading up on things and went with a Steel series V2 headset. I got it on special from Newegg so I'm hoping its good :)

I'm using the Sennheiser PC360. Probably too expensive (like many headsets), but very good sound, microphone and comfort.

It's also pretty sturdy. I dropped it many times, because it's so light and comfortable (for me) that i forgot that i was still wearing it.

Hi Guys,

Maybe a weird question but since i'm not able to play with normal speakers i'm obligated to use headphones. Momentarily i use old pretty basic Sennheiser headphones with a cable. I can connect my (currently broken) TrackIR pro clip with much ease. But now i'm hating all the wires and want to make both systems wireless. I have an idea for the pro clip, but now i must also buy a new headphone. Since i also want to get into online flying, i might just as well get an headset with microphone.

Do you guys have any suggestions? Price range would be somewhere between 150 and 200 euro's.

Thanks.

Jesus, $100 for 'gaming' headphones???

I went with a nice pair of JVC HARX700 with a clip on $5 microphone. $40 later and I have better sound quality than a lot of the $100+ gaming headsets. Have been used daily since 2010 without any issues.

That's nice and all but the JVC's aren't wireless. And that's must. I'm sick off all the wire spaghetti... And the JVC's are at least 45 euro's. Even more expensive in the Netherlands.

But maybe the price range is a bit steep. I reading nice things about the Corsairs.

Wireless seems to go hand in hand with lesser sound quality, is that something you're willing to sacrifice?

If the difference is not that noticeable then yes, i would sacrifice some quality. The question is, will i notice it. My hearing is fine, but i'm by no means an expert on sound.

I did some research and it seems that an wireless headphone and separate mic are the better solution. I have to give you credits there. Thanks.

Using Sennheiser PC 350's for about three years now. Very happy with them except ear cups just started flaking off the vinyl about a week ago. Still, three years aint bad and the sound/comfort has not changed.

My son is using the logitech g930(the older ones) they were $79.99(reg.$149.99) they are 7.1 surround sound and he says they sound good with music as well.  I think the wireless problems were early on and the latest ones were very well rated.

HERRMURF drop Senheiser a line...they will send you new ear-cups.  i have had great luck their with customer service.

I got a Logitech G933 I use occasionally and they're really nice. Wireless USB and the 7.1 sound is really good. I was wondering why I need "surround" in headphones when I only have two ears but the effect is remarkable. There is a noticeable improvement in BoS over the 2.0 ones I had. Specifically in the Me110 when I would turn my head the engine sound would drop from one ear and I would literally think the engine had quit. But now the full surround effect in aircraft is amazing. The pads are breathable fabric and washable so they don't get hot wearing them for long and you can hear things outside them such as a dog barking just enough to be aware.

I prefer open-back / semi-open cans, the wide sound stage gives virtual surround in games much more depth and precision IMO and there are very few gaming headsets under $ 100 that are not closed back - only one that comes close would be HyperX Revolver , which is ported giving it a bit of a wider sound stage similar to the JVC HA-RX700 (which I have and largely prefer, due to the incredible bass response and flat signature).

I tend to switch between those JVCs and a Samson SR850 since the velor pads give me much more comfort during long sessions, the pleather pads tend to get a bit warm over time. My “good” headphones (Logitech G930) 1 It is pretty much tied to my AVR since I find budget studio cans are well enough in sound quality for gaming and streaming music.

As far as surround sound, some games have it integrated into the game (eg “headphone” settings in the audio options), windows 10 has “sonic” spatial sound you can enable, some integrated realtek have it in the audio output options, 3rd party software solutions like Razer surround as previously mentioned and better sound cards (also previously mentioned) like the Sound Blaster Play! 3 also support vsurround (which I am currently using, SBX is my favorite so far since it sounds good for games and movies and can adust the level of surround to your preference)
