Steam Integration Issues

I met some of the 1C guys at FSEXPO and they were great in explaining to me the merits of purchasing products directly from the developers. I had previously mostly purchased through Steam, except the IL-2 1946 and earlier editions which were retail box purchases. 

 

I  have made all purchases since exclusively from the website. However, I only seem to be able to access all content while I launch through Steam. When I launch through the website, I can only access products I purchased from the website. Is there a workaround for this, or am I required to launch through Steam if I want to access all the content I own?
