MineFewer Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 It's all talk and nuke threats should be ignored.

AndyJWest Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 What do you think? I think you should find another forum...
6S.Manu Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Still I don't understand the reason of these threats. What do they want?
DD_bongodriver Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 I think they want the lifting of UN sanctions against them, but their egos won't allow them to capitulate to international demands so instead they are ramping up rhetoric in an attempt to frighten the international community into reversing the sanctions.........alternatively they really have become unhinged and just want to start a war.
philiped Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 North Korea cannot hurt a fly. They are suffering horrendous poverty issues, and their population are completely underfed. Their army survives on 500-calories a day each. An attack against the US would destroy them completely. Even a war with South Korea would be mutually suicidal for both sides. This is a case of little-children playing with guns and thinking they have some form of power (however lamentable) in this world.
DD_Arthur Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 What do you think? I think the US is out of the preemptive war business for the foreseeable future.
BlitzPig_EL Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Basically what we are seeing playing out is an internal power struggle between the new boy king and his military leadership. He has to appear strong to avoid a coup d'etat from his much more senior, and more powerful, general staff. The only problem is that all it will take to start a real shooting war is one incident where a junior officer takes a shot at a South Korean or American soldier patrolling the border, or a South Korean fisherman just out doing his job. Another factor is that many in the South are simply tired of the endless state of war that has existed since 1953, and the constant bluster from the nincompoops in the North. They just want it settled, one way or another.
Bearcat Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 I think you should find another forum... This ... SHQ has a great politics room ... This is a slope I'd rather not get on in here.
