Wind noise...

Is there any way to decrease the wind noise? I've ridden on the back of an old Harley for over twenty years, with and with out a fairing, and the wind noise isn't near that bad. I'd sure like to hear the motor and the machine guns...

You should definitely turn it down if it makes the game more enjoyable for you.  I can assure you though, the wind noise is worse in the actual airplane.  I wear ear plugs, and it is still really loud.  I only took off once without them, and it was the shortest flight I've made in the Dr.I.

Sorry about the wind noises, it’s the altitude, don’t you know.  I’ll try to remember to stop eating baked beans before before flying and make sure I avoid having an open mic for comm’s, when I announce my presence.

You have to imagine the differences....Harley... open cockpit biplane. I imagine that more often than not you’re  doing maximum 60-80mph on a bike on the freeway. Open cockpit ww1 scout you’re doing 95-125 mph depending.... plus you’ve got a 9.5’ or 10’ prop creating all that slipstream. Wind noise would be ridiculous. But ya. If it make gameplay is not enjoyable, turn the volume down.
I like the sound of a nice Harley or Mercedes DIIIa too but personally I’m glad they turned wind noise back up to where it was a long time ago in RoF.

I wasn't thinking of all the turbulence from the struts, wires and such. Sorry I blew up?

Back when I raced sportbikes, I wore ear plugs under a full face helmet and still came back with ringing ears from the wind noise.

Actually the wind could be louder if anything

When you dive in a real plane wind gets very loud.

Have a real story to share.

Years ago, wind noise saved my live trying to descend thru a hole in the clouds, did not had IFR training yet, clouds move so I was tightening my turn more , bank steeper, and descending  until I started to hear very loud wind noise, looked at the airspeed and it was at Vne (redline), then forgot about the hole, stopped my  descending turn and went into IMC  at Vne and banking, got  the plane straight in the clouds and started pulling slowly so I did not brake the plane.

My very first encounter with IMC, saved by the wind noise ?

Now when I fly the warbird and do aerobatics, I kind of can tell if I am going too fast or slow by just listening to how loud the wind is.

Yep wind is loud in planes.
