I play mostly career because I'm new, and I played on Germany's side, but keep on getting these recon intercept missions. Thing is, I can't catch up to the spitfire mk 9, it's too fast for me, I've tried climbing and then diving, but it also doesn't seem to work, it's too fast! I feel like I'm doing something wrong, please tell me it's getting really annoying!

Do like the AI and follow him back to his base?

You're probably not doing anything wrong at all. Intercepts of PR Spitfires or PR Mosquitos took a very high level of planning and skill during the execution of the intercept. The biggest brunt of which was on the side of the GCI folks, which we don't really have in game. Such intercepts were hit-or-miss in real life, as the cruising airspeeds of the PR aircraft were so fast that a climbing fighter could hardly reach them in time. Only fighters with an altitude-advantage and very close by the path of a PR usually had a chance of catching them.

Have you tried using MW50 boost, if available?

Another question, can you skip a mission to go on to the next one? And also, how do I use the MW50 boost lol?

I believe the default is LSHFT/B.

You do not need to have success in each mission. Just accept a mission failed. As Brems says, these types of mission were rarely successful. Personally, I skip these missions.

Depending on the type you're flying. In the 109's you just have to push the throttle full forward (100%) and in the 190 D9 you also have to push the throttle full forward but you need to manually engage the MW 50. There is also an engine boost for the A8 (and the Jabo version of the A5) that requires the same procedure as for the D9. Also the MW50 (or Engine Boost) only works to a certain altitude, after that it's no longer working, so keep it in mind. You can read those information about the altitude in the descriptions of the planes.

Intercepts are usually at 6.500 metres altitude or even higher up. The only way to catch them is to climb to 7.500 - 8.500 metres and then dive on them. You need to bring your engine to the maximum once you spotted the plane. Good luck with the G6 or G14, you will need it. With the A8 you have no chance at that altitude. With the K4 and D9 you can catch them, but it will take a while. I once had to follow a Spitfire over 20 miles to get close enough for a kill. It is a tough Job, as it was in real life.

We really need the 109/AS version for this kind of business.

How do I skip if I am not at the decision making rank...like CO of the squadron.

Wish I could opt out of the mission if I am not CO rank.

Start mission...quit mission = mission failed, move on.

Granted idk if I'll ever get such a mission since I've only just transferred to Kommando Nowotny but I've found when intercepting bombers the 262 just can't be caught...would probably do pretty well catching them during those  missions I feel, the Mossies would be easy due to their large size and I've shot down quite a few spits in my time...

Its a pitty you can't like...go into as a Commander and look at what other squadron's missions are and switch out the auto generated ones for others if you wish...maybe make 2 catigories "Air Attack" and "Ground attack" so you can't attack a railway station with a K4 or visa versa take on a Bomber intercept mission in a Ju 87

Coz like the 262 would be great to kill those PR planes (least when I fly it) but I'm pretty sure EVERY. SINGLE. MISSION. for the Kommando Nowotny until its dissolved about a month after the squadron becomes available because Nowotny is KIA, are just gonna be B-25 Intercept missions...which are fun don't get me wrong...but being able to switch it up would be nice

Bomber intercept missions are the only thing Kdo Nowotny flew in reality, so that's what you're going to get here as well. :)
