cardboard_killer Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 Has anyone ever visited National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola Florida? I am within a long drive of it and was thinking of taking a trip.
Blooddawn1942 Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 I've been there... Well... In 1994... But I totally loved it. They had a recreation of a WWII carrier flight deck with an Hellcat and an Avenger. They even had a Zeke. Don't know how this museum is nowadays. But back then I really enjoyed the stay. 1
Vig Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 Best museum on the planet if you are a naval air buff. 1

exlax Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 I've been there twice and enjoyed it a lot, it is smaller then Dayton Air Museum and you can easily cover it in a day.
cardboard_killer Posted February 20, 2020 Author Posted February 20, 2020 To follow up, the museum is currently restricted to DoD personnel or visitors with those personnel, due to the recent shooting that took place involving a Saudi pilot trainee on the air base. So, I can't go until they open the doors to the gen public again. Check their website out before you go if planning a trip. I'm going to try to make it up there when they re-open to the general public. 1
Vig Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 Thanks for the update on the admission restrictions. Although this seems to be a case of closing the farmhouse door after the horse is gone.
busdriver Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 There's a pretty nice museum at Robins AFB, GA in case you were not aware. 1

Agreed but it is standard procedure. Breach in security in military facilities in general demand a total inspection and check and approval. It is a ton of paperwork new procedures and it cost millions
