Questuin About Arras Map

I was making a little DF map for attacking No Man's Land artillery.  A friend is curious about Flying Circus so I thought I would add the U2VS so he could fly.

In the course of map construction I set the country in Advanced Properties for Allied stuff to  "Great Britain WWI" and Central Powers to "Germany WWI".  However when I started up the map online nothing showed up.  (I had the mission in the right folder).

So I went back in and reset everything to regular "Great Britain" and "Germany" and now they show up.

Why is that?  I would think that if you are using FC objects you could set them to "WWI" in the Country options.

 

Also, will my friend be able to fly ( a U2) on this map as he doesn't have Flying Circus.  I know that if the host sets up a mission on a map you don't have you can still fly it online  even if you don't have the module yourself.

And another thing, why is Japan listed as a Country choice?  There's no Pacific Theatre in our near future and I don't think Japan participated in Stalingrad/Moscow/Kuban or Western Europe.  Odd choice I think.
