Vladivostok Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 (edited) Hello, I've been searching unsuccessfully for a solution. Bombing and ground attack is unplayable in VR, the units disappear when I approach them and only in cockpit view ... in outside view the objects reappear. I have a HTC Vive, I tried with and without 3DMigoto mod, on IL-2 without mods, purely vanilla : grounds units still disappear. Any ideas ? Thanks Edited February 16, 2020 by Vladivostok

For example tanks behind sandbags: I will only see sandbags even 5 meters from the tank. 1 hour ago, vonrickenbecker said: Possibly this issue? I've tried but it didn't work for me. Units are always disappearing. Thanks for you help guys. Edited February 16, 2020 by Vladivostok
RedeyeStorm Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Mayby what works if you also press numpad5 when you recenter. Ground units disappear for me to but only if they move 45 degrees to either side of straight ahead. Staight ahead does not always equals looking staight ahead in VR. I have center vr combined with numpad5 on my Hoyas.
VR-DriftaholiC Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 Sounds like a bug, maybe a short video showing the problem in VR could help.
1./KG4_klaw123 Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 It's a bug for sure, 3 of were in a server the other day, attacking a train which magically dissappear and re appear when dive bombing, most disconcerting.
VR-DriftaholiC Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 Some of the draw distance settings seem baked into the balanced, high and ultra, presets. Maybe try raising that. I was really frustrated to discover texture quality is locked in the presets.

It is, but apparently if you hand-edit the config file (which you need to do anyhow to enable HDR without the horrible Bloom) you can fiddle texture resolution with detail_rt_res 1
VR-DriftaholiC Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 I love how the dev's tried to make it easier to select good settings and inadvertently forced us to go editing files. Every other game manages to have presets as well as custom. I hope this is revised with deferred rendering. 1

Was trying to see the correct value for max was.
bbz Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 here is footage of this happening https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OBYQ1Lsnqda5x6a1JX2LPFW4us5pHVua/view?usp=sharing really hampering my enjoyment of this otherwise great experience.
TheWarsimmer Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 (edited) This might help. I used to have this issue all the time. EDIT: No longer works. I've hopped back in to the sim and the ground units disappearing is the worst I have ever seen it. Edited September 13, 2020 by TheWarsimmer
Krause Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 Hello any news regarding this issue. I am buying a HTC Vive (non-pro) in the next days and I am trying to inform myself the best as possible before doing it. Thanks
=IRFC=NakedSquirrel Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 I stopped getting this bug after I removed the controls for mouse view. I haven't noticed any spotting issues since.

Yes, unfortunately most of the "PRESET: LOW/MED/HIGH etc" changes (e.g. reflections, draw distance, texture quality) are locked up in the gpreset file which can't be modified while playing multiplayer.

I used the external view to see the plane and when I move around the plane, over certain angles the vehicle disappearing. Hope devs can solve the issue ? Ciao! M

I haven't noticed any spotting issues since. Unfortunately, it's a different problem. There was a time when the camera trick worked, but what we have now isn't the same thing. With this bug, you will never see any part of the train except the engine, and you will never see pilots in planes when you start a multiplayer mission. Ground units simply don't appear until you are right over top of them, and zooming in exacerbates the problem. Here are a few bits thrown together from vids I created or found:
