[Warship]MidnightLightnin Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 (edited) Hi, Spent a few evenings reading headset reviews and came up with a shortlist of: HyperX Cloud II 7.1 Virtual Surround HyperX Cloud Revolver S Dolby 7.1 SteelSeries Arctis 5 All had relatively good website reviews and I was all set to get the Revolver but when I looked at Amazon reviews there were a lot of bad reviews. Similarly with the others on my list. Just wondered if anyone could help with choosing one of these or recommend something else - I'm trying to stay within a £100 budget if possible. I have only used £20 headsets in the past so don't have much experience in selecting. Main tick list items are : Must be Wired Can attach a Track IR Pro Clip Discord friendly - good Mic PC Compatible - I have separate 3.5mm for speaker and Mic and also USB It would also be nice to be able to adjust Game and Voice volumes via the headset which I think the Arctis 7 does but not sure if the 5 also does this - but this isn't vital? Thanks in advance. Mid Edited February 14, 2020 by MidnightLightnin
=FEW=fernando11 Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Hello. I'm using one of this brand Sennheiser, wired, with no Mic, and a microphone on my desktop for the last 4-5 years. VERY HAPPY WITH IT. You can ofcourse choose one with a microphone inclouded. 1
BlitzPig_EL Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 I use a Sennheiser as well, with mic. Sorry, at work and can't remember the model number. Great sound, good mic, very reliable, and comfortable to wear, and I am using the Track Clip Pro which clamps to my headset without issue. 1
Babayega Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 I use a plantronics 3210 usb headset. It is a single side ear with a good mic. normally used for soft phones on a laptop. I run il2 out of my computer speakers and then the voice channel for discord or TS into the single ear speaker. Its very lightweight and trackir clip fits on it nicely. 1
[Warship]MidnightLightnin Posted February 14, 2020 Author Posted February 14, 2020 I would be interested to know the Sennheiser models. Using the speakers and a separate headset for voice is interesting, I have tried this in the past but team mates could hear the speakers through the mic.
BlitzPig_EL Posted February 15, 2020 Posted February 15, 2020 Mine is the Sennheiser Game One Black. 1
[Warship]MidnightLightnin Posted February 15, 2020 Author Posted February 15, 2020 Have decided to get a Cloud Alpha - seems to tick most boxes
VR-DriftaholiC Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 I prefer Phillips Fidellio's X2. Excellent sound stage with a fun quality to them. Very competitive in other games. I can't say that IL2's audio engine takes advantage of a good headset. https://www.amazon.com/Philips-X2HR-Over-Ear-Open-Air-Headphone/dp/B01N5VHLUG/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2SNDR13HW1H15&keywords=philips+fidelio+x2hr&qid=1581908522&sprefix=phillips+fid%2Caps%2C188&sr=8-1 With this cable to add a mic. https://www.amazon.com/V-MODA-BoomPro-Microphone-Gaming-Communication/dp/B00BJ17WKK/ref=pd_cp_267_1/134-9199762-5201310?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00BJ17WKK&pd_rd_r=703f92f8-9d1c-425d-9662-b509b5b422d6&pd_rd_w=BeTag&pd_rd_wg=d6xJH&pf_rd_p=e44de6bb-cc27-4696-9c22-3a1bddefabbd&pf_rd_r=MW1AEVDPF1W6TZT5K3TW&psc=1&refRID=MW1AEVDPF1W6TZT5K3TW 1
1CGS LukeFF Posted January 9, 2023 1CGS Posted January 9, 2023 A bump up to this one, because I also just made the upgrade to 7.1 headphones - the HyperX Cloud II. It's definitely a different "feel" than my Sony MDR-7506s, but I do like the subtle way sounds change as I move my head - hearing the engine throb more as you move your head left and right, and I can hear more of the wind blowing across the canopy as I'm looking forward (tested last night with a Typhoon career mode mission).
