cardboard_killer Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 My Crosswind came with the #6 cam installed. Is that what most people are using? I don't want to risk disassembly to change the cam just to try it out. Also, is anyone using lubrication on the cam roller? I was going to put some silicon spray on it, or maybe some graphite spray. But I have grease, too
JimTM Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 I changed from #6 cam to #4 cam, which has a smoother transition through the center detent. More information here. The cam replacement is easy and risk-free. See MFG crosswind - adjustments 2 - spring strenght and CAM replacement. 1
Soarfeat Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Hey cardboard_killer, In regards to the cams I believe it is up to personal preference. I like the cam that my mfg pedals came with, I do not notice the detent enough to change things out, it is just enough for me to feel where the center is . However as is shown, JimTM prefers the #4 cam so this sort of is the testament to this being a rather subjective preference. As far as switching the cams out, as JimTM says, it is very simple and there is no way you can mess things up ( watch the video Jim has linked ). I believe it will not damage anything if you want to put a small amount of lubricant on the cam roller, just don't over do, remember lubricants can attract dust so I would use a very light coat. Enjoy those new pedals !!! Cheers-sf- 1
LLv34_Flanker Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 S! Using CAM5, very nice control. Changing cam is not hard, check the videos from MFG site :)
