BornToBattle Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 (edited) I didn’t know if this was exactly a bug or not but aren’t the valve springs supposed to be tapping faster the more throttle you give them? Seems the more throttle I give the slower they move OR is the slower moving animation supposed to represent faster movement, like a prop when moving high rpms seems sometimes visually to almost be not turning at all? Thanks all and please forgive me if this was brought up s before. I’ve been flying enclosed engine aircraft and just noticed this tonight in the Pfalz and the Albatross. HagarTheHorrible Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 I don’t think valve heads would ever move quick enough to produce the illusion of looking as if they were going slower, unlike propellers or wheels.
BornToBattle Posted February 11, 2020 Author Posted February 11, 2020 Okay...did some experimenting. THIS ONLY OCCURS IN VR mode. In 2D it works perfectly. More throttle equals faster animation to valve springs on engine. In VR in any aircraft with the engine available to see the valve spring actually go into slow motion mode the more throttle you give the engine. Can anybody else confirm this?
HagarTheHorrible Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Might be a frame rate thing or even the ASW effect kicking in. 1

I was wondering about the ASW thing too especially since it’s not there in 2D. I might try this for fun and see what happens... “It's now possible to turn off the VR rendering mode for the propellers - any negative values specified for the prop_blur_max_rpm_for_vr parameter in startup.cfg file (like prop_blur_max_rpm_for_vr = -1) will result in the normal propellers rendering;”
BornToBattle Posted February 11, 2020 Author Posted February 11, 2020 UPDATE: I went ahead into the startup.cfg file and changed the prop_blur_max_rpm_for_vr = 155 to prop_blur_max_rpm_for_vr = -1. Indeed, the rocker arm spring animations appear to be correct once this was changed. Of course this then invited the wonky aiming sights to come back into the mix. Argh. 1
