TC Track-Ir weirdness

It seems that I can use my track-Ir as long as I cycle between stations (Right Ctrl+C in my setup), but as soon as I select a specific station (Right Shift+1,2,3...) Track-Ir doesn't work anymore and I can only pan the view around using the mouse. Anyone having this kind of issue?

If the TrackIR is stuck, then most likely because you unlocked the turret/gun. Hit that key-combo again to lock the gun/turret and you should be able to look around with TrackIR again.

OK, thanks, will try that!

That did the trick, thanks!

I didn't realize it worked at all. How does that work when you are on the gun sight? I imagine no effect? Only when in crew or commander position?

If you are looking into the gunsight, TrackIR gets paused and you aim with the mouse. Once you go out of the gunsight and lock the gun/turret, TrackIR gets unpaused and you can look around. That works for every position.

I will never see any sense in the way this works.

Im not a programmer but the logic might be that IR might take over the gun reticle and you start aiming using trackIR.
Also, good to know you can use trackIR in this game aswel !

Should be two completely different things. That the TrackIR is locked, when you are in the gunsight, makes perfectly sense, but in every other station there is no need to have it locked. When you change positions in an aircraft, you don't have this locking thing either.

We do have a bit of locking wonkeyness in aircraft. Once you pick up a gun track IR stops working both in tanks and aircraft. I tried this in the A-20 a few weeks ago, and with the M4. It would be nice to be able to use track IR while controlling the gun, especially on tanks with periscopes for the gunner to look out.

The difference is, in an aircraft, when I change position, I still can look around with TrackIR, it only stops, when I take control over a gun. In TC the TrackIR doesn't work each time I change position, so I have to press the key 'Take/Leave control of a gun' each time I change position.

Strange, I havent played around enough to have run into that, i think the second i take control of a gun i turn off my trackir.

Yes exactly, and this is good, because you look around with the gun and usually you toggle to gunsight view, to aim on an enemy. But it doesn't make sense that the TrackIR gets turned off by just changing to another position, like it is in tanks. Workaround should be, to put 'change positions' and 'take leave control of a gun' on the same key for tanks.

I love the trackir, especially for tanks just because of the multiple positions.

It all comes down to the way the Devs used the TrackIR API.

It was also not used in IL-2 external view.

What always amazes me it that I can not detect any overhead when using TrackIR 5 in IL-2 or any other sim !

I do not own any VR headset yet, but from all I read I conclude that (obviously) VR requires a lot of system resources, OTOH IL-2 + trackIr + 4K is no problem whatsoever.
