Knolly Posted February 6, 2020 Posted February 6, 2020 Hi all, Still fairly new to this game but long time player of IL2-1946. I am having a few issues relating to graphics but the main problem is how terrible the landscape looks at a distance, it flickers and appears very choppy is this normal? I have attached pictures of my settings and a screen shot that highlights it. My graphics card is a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB and processor i5-6600k Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted February 6, 2020 Posted February 6, 2020 Please set landscape filter to blurred, you got it off! 1
kendo Posted February 6, 2020 Posted February 6, 2020 (edited) Most important is to set Landscape Filter, as1Pl-Husar-1Esk says. You can also try the Sharp setting for it and see which works best. A couple of other things may be contributing too. Dynamic Resolution Factor set at 0.5 may be dropping your screen resolution when fps drops. Try setting it up to full (1.0) It might help to drop Horizon Draw Distance to 130 or even 100km. You probably won't notice the difference. Likewise for Distant Landscape detail - turn it down to X3. Both these should reduce load on your system, so you may not need to use Dynamic Resolution. If you are having FPS issues probably better to try using Target FPS setting than DSR? Also Sharpen (right-hand column, 3rd from bottom) may help too Edited February 6, 2020 by kendo
Knolly Posted February 6, 2020 Author Posted February 6, 2020 Thanks guys I will have a play around, I think I had to set to off because I read somewhere that it made aircraft easier to spot against the ground?
Hartigan Posted February 6, 2020 Posted February 6, 2020 (edited) I'm not sure about this but I have noticed something similar . Something has changed with anti aliasing and landscape . I use Reverb WMR . I don't know is this related to GPU driver, windows 10 (WMR drivers) or something with game files itself Edited February 6, 2020 by Hartigan
SharpeXB Posted February 6, 2020 Posted February 6, 2020 I used to have Landscape Filter Off and it looked fine until the update with the Western Front map, then you see that flickering. LF is basically anisotropic filtering. The terrain looks better with it enabled and IMO it’s easier to spot aircraft against smooth landscape rather than flickering
