adler_1 Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 hello How do you convert a FW190 D9 file to bare metal , step by step , only serious replies by experienced skinners please
Mauler Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 From Jason: "Not all planes support bare metal finishes. Only some of our later models." And from ICDP: "Only some aircraft have the bare metal effect added to the 3D model. IIRC Spitfire Mk IX, A20, P47, P39, P40, Mc.202". I tried the D9 as well - no go. You could at most achieve a painted silver type of finish, results will vary. Good luck.
adler_1 Posted February 4, 2020 Author Posted February 4, 2020 (edited) hello very interesting , i am working on the D9 right now with the parts which need to be in BM in some rare cases . In the old days the technique of burning the grey layer was used . the tool is available in PS . I will keep experimenting and i will post my results here . the lower section i am satisfied with but for some reason the cowling is not giving the same BM glitter look yet its the same layer color . adler_1 Posted February 5, 2020 Author Posted February 5, 2020 here is the result of dodge and burn on cowling only and a general clean up of the surface .

[I./JG62]steppa Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 This is the best i could do. As you can see it always depends on the angle you look at it, sufficient to shoot at but not very pretty.
adler_1 Posted August 31, 2020 Author Posted August 31, 2020 (edited) Steppa did you use curves or level to get your result ? or what other method did you use ? as i mentioned above the lower wing came out fine but the cowling sticks to grey . Edited August 31, 2020 by adler_1
