how to Bare Metal an area only

Some FW190 D9 had lower wing sections and cowlings with no paint , just bare metal . I have removed the grey color off the cowling in alpha and increased the white  using level tool  as well as removing the colors on the main file but as you can see in this image the cowling is not BM . How do i get the BM to come out ?

pick the right base colour and use the right tone alpha. Download one of the US types templates to see what someone like ICDP has done and go from there.

i need someone to show me how to alter the base color to BM on main file  , i am unable to remove the color shown above  or how to alter the white black levels for this section layer since its the last level layer color to BM base . the shine then is no problem with alpha for this section .

[Skywarp]

I think the Luftwaffe Aircraft have the same "problem" of the P-40, as we cannot transform their skins to bare metal.
