My First Panther Skin

What is the name of the Panther file for the skin folder?

Put both files into the PzV-D folder in the skins folder. There used to be one dds file now the skins appear to have 2 for each tank skin. Once both the files are in, the name appears without the &1 and &1#1 suffixes as one skin.

I've updated the skin to try and mimic zimmerit without actually modifying the Bumpmap file (no need to use Mods on) with limited success. Also polished up some metal highlights. Need to wait for the template to arrive before trying anything more ambitious. Will change the post above for link to the v11 file.

Really beautiful and so well-balanced colors! Especially the saturation. You've done a remarkable job, and all this without a template!

Just to note, there was some funny mirroring effect on some parts of those round "plates" above the engine, in front of the exhaust pipes; I guess it was unintentional? And I remember seeing some small alpha-channel related transparent places in roadwheels. Minor stuff, but maybe you want to know.

Thank you for the feedback.

The mirroring should be spilled oil reflecting. I will check it and tone it down. I am very surprised by the alpha wheel holes as I thought I had checked it over really well. However, I really need to fix a hole I found when looking down the gun barrel so this is a good opportunity to do all 3. It just takes moving a couple of sliders in the alpha channel output. Clipping at the bottom end is about 4-8. Over mirroring is clipped at the top end at about 216. Which also compensates for the lightening that occurs when the black output is limited.

I am glad that the saturation is ok as my monitor is calibrated for 3D and not true. I guessed at a setting of -20 on the contrast to get the right balance of colour and brightness but it was a shot in the dark lol.

Any feedback like this makes it easier to get it right next time. I hope ... :)  Thanks!

Did you get a template or how did you do this one?

Good find, Hanu. Found it straight away when knowing where to look. File updated to v12.

I just used one the existing dds files, which I got using Un-GTP, as a guide and also for panel lines. It isn't ideal as it is flat file and therefore muddled. Also tanks have a huge number of small bits all crammed here there and everywhere. Add to that small errors in the original hastily fixed leaving  it hard to decipher. Luckily the tank had a base coat of sand yellow so working on top wasn't too bad. The alpha layer is also very useful not for its alpha properties but as a gray scale layer that can be used as a panel line overlay with a bit of tweaking.
