Fatboiz Posted January 29, 2020 Posted January 29, 2020 I'm having an issue where the sim would not run after installation was fine the first time then one day I went to run it and got an error message. "Create Process Failed; code 740" I searched all over the internet and I couldn't find the solution to my problem. I decided that I would uninstall the program and re-install it and in a perfect world that would usually work. After I downloaded the installer again and started to run it I got this error message a whole paragraph long. "System.Windows.Markup.XamlParseException" (See attached files). I've searched all over the internet with Google and have not been able to figure this one out.I sure hope there is a fix to this problem as I would be out of the $ for the program with nothing to show for it. In my experience since IL-2 first hit the market I have had nothing but trouble with this version or that version. I fail to understand why it is not more user friendly but it is what it is. If you get it to run it is a fantastic WWII sim with beautiful scenery and it's great. Thank you for any help you may provide for this!
AndyJWest Posted January 29, 2020 Posted January 29, 2020 Your C:\Program Files (x86) folder is for 32-bit applications. IL-2 BoS is 64-bit. I'd create a games folder in your root directory (if you don't already have one) and install it in that.
Fatboiz Posted February 18, 2020 Author Posted February 18, 2020 Any other ideas? This did not work, I got the same message as before. I tried to install it under "Users" "my name" "saved games". Thank you for the suggestion anyway, I wish I could get this to work. Would installing a new video card cause this problem? I have installed a Nvidia RTX 2070 after purchasing this sim. It ran fine on my old GTX 1070. I have updated my drivers too in case you need to know that.
SCG_Tzigy Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 Sorry you are having problems. I have had nothing but good luck with this sim since its release, I have installed this on 3 different computers running window 7 and 2 different computers running Windows 10. I am sure you already have done this but my only suggestion would be completely deleting everything including any trace of BOX from all directories and try again. If that does not work, I think your windows install is corrupted. Sometimes you just have to suck it up and do a clean Win reinstall..
Fatboiz Posted February 20, 2020 Author Posted February 20, 2020 Thank you, I am beginning to think you are right. My Trackir will not run either and there is nothing wrong with it. I tried finding all related folders in the games directory and even that did not achieve any results.
[_FLAPS_]RogoRogo Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 (edited) just be advised that IL2 always tries to install in the "Program Files (x86)" 32-bit folder by default - so make a note to change and check the folder path in a fresh download of the 64bit version. While it should not be an issue... with IL2... one can never make sure enough. The fresh install should be in a different folder/directory anyway (for unrelated reasons), maybe not in the root, but in the "Program Files" for 64bit installs. Check after you uninstall that there might be a remnant in there (Battle of Moscow folders if you would own BoM) which have to be deleted/uninstalled separately to clean the registry. Also install you GPU drivers only in the "recommended" release versions and no "beta" or "optional" releases, make sure you create gameprofiles for IL2 in the GPU managment and maybe run the il2 exe with admin privileges.
