marshall Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 I don't have any mods added only JSGME added to the wroot folder. When I enable mods in the start up menu this causes the game to crash mid loading and a number of error messages which freeze my PC. No problems if I disabled the Mods Enabled option. Any ideas
Goffik Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 Try verifying the game's files if you're using Steam. I don't know if IL-2's own launcher has a similar option? You could also try a reinstall since there may be modded files hanging around that you're not aware of. That's what I had to do to fix an issue which messed up all the clouds a while back. Installing/uninstalling mods must have caused corruption or something, despite me only ever using JSGME.
marshall Posted January 28, 2020 Author Posted January 28, 2020 thanks...funnily enough its a cloud mod that im trying. And yes thinking about it there maybe some files that ive forgotten about.
jollyjack Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 (edited) I am giving up trying out Mods ... Game crashes after a ships mod below, railway tracks missing from a winter Rheinland map, while only the summer version was modded, and more. Edited January 30, 2020 by jollyjack
Goffik Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 How old was the mod? The key to using mods with any game is making sure that they have been checked for compatibility whenever a new patch is released. I don't know what mod you were trying to use, but I've noticed quite a few available here that haven't really been maintained over the years. Also key is proper installation, so learning how JSGME works so that you can tweak mods to use it is a good idea, especially when it comes to uninstalling those mods again. Anyway, you shouldn't give up so easily. Even if that mod doesn't work, there are still some good ones out there which work fine. 1
FlyingH Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 GO into the LuaScript and remove the offending file. If you get more notes like that find the offenders and remove them. For security put them in a new folder called backup or whatever. That should fix your hickups.
Dutch2 Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 (edited) I’m starting to use JSGME in 2011 on games like RoF/WoFF. My experience its not only the matter of obsolete mods like the mentioned terrain mods here, but also I suspect JSGME is leaving leftovers after swapping mods out of the game. I do not know why nor how, could be that the mod is become corrupt caused by an game update while mods are still enabled or this piece of old software, last update 2010, is not real compatible with Windows 10 (64bit). BTW, I think its always wise to swap the mods out of the game, before an game update. Right now I have deleted JSGME and exchanged by OvGME (last update 2016 ? ) to give it an try and only using this mod for implementation of “German symbol” , modified Startup file, sripted campaign, 4k.dds and 4k skins. No mods that could be problematic after an game update or are prone to be outdated like all the; more ground activities, cloud and terrain mods. One exception I made and that is an flowers mod. ? OvGME 1.7.4 can be found by Google or at https://github.com/jweisner/ovgme for manuals lots of info on the DCS forums, (even on this forum) or at Youtube. edit: do not use OvGME as it is even worser in leaving leftovers then JSGME. I always use an mod enabler for sripted campaigns. The Butcher and Fortress_Stalingrad both the maps was still in the campaign root. After opening both maps an .eng file was still in the Butcher and the media & all the .CHS files in the Fortress_Stalingrad map. Think it has problems in swapping big files.
