1PL-Lucas-1Esk Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 Hi, Just wanted to share some pictures with you, as I made today a short trip to Bolimów. It is a small town between Warsaw and Łódź, where there was a front during the 1914/15. During the end of January 1915, it was a place of the first gas attack, when German units used shells filled with gas. Due to low temperatures the attack was not successful. Another one took place at the end of May 1915, this time with dedicated cans with the chlorine gas. What you see on the pictures is the firefighter's bell which was made of one of those cans opened in May 1915. A scary reminder of the WW1 and chemical warfare. 3 1
No.23_Gaylion Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 Amazing. Think of all the people who walk by that having no idea what it was from. Thanks for sharing.
1PL-Lucas-1Esk Posted January 29, 2020 Author Posted January 29, 2020 This object is very well known in the local community. It has been standing there for years. But, yes, some tourist information would be appreciated, especially because there is a tourist route covering WW1 areas in the region, mostly military cemetaries.
