riedelfam Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 Hi all. I have an old encyclopedia on military aircraft and came across the FW190D series and my understanding is that it states (I will provide a picture) that the D11 was essentially a mod of the D9, with 30mm wing guns. Is this true? If so, could we get something like this for the game considering all the other Fw190s have all their mods? I LOVE the 30mms in a fight so this would be very nice for me.
Spuks Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 Hi Look at these differences between subtypes, and you will get that its not so simple to make D11.
riedelfam Posted January 25, 2020 Author Posted January 25, 2020 Thank you for this! I'll take a proper look at it. I see my book failed to mention the different engine and so on, I will research it properly later.
Bremspropeller Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 The added MK108 isn't that much of a big deal, as the aircraft uses a comon A-8 wing. The interesting part would be the engine: Would it have a Jumo 213F or an F1? The latter would have an increased pressure MW 50 system and a special anti-surging system for the supercharger. The "fast Doras" (TM) were some great airplanes, that would have had an enormous potential, had the war not been over and had the general procurement.planning, flight-testing and resource-allocation not broken down four to six months ago. The D-12 and D-13 (starting around June '45) would eventually have gotten the Junkers 213EB with an intercooler, allowing for roughly 770kph at altitude and roughly 615 kph on the deck. There were plans to introduce four bag-tanks into the wings (similar to the six bag-tanks in the wing of the Ta 152; one for the MW 50, the other three for additional gas), giving the airplane a tremendously increased range and cancelling the neccessity for external fuel.
PainGod85 Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 (edited) I'll add my 0.02$ here to say the Jumo 213C is just a 213A equipped with a gun tube for a cannon firing through the propeller hub. Still, that would require remodeling of the upper nose section due to missing the D-9's HMGs in favor of an MK108 firing through the hub. And with that come massively different drag calculations for the fuselage. E: this is all pertaining to the D-10. The D-11, -12 and -13 are a different can of worms due to the different engine as well as related modeling changes. Edited February 12, 2020 by PainGod85
