Display Port Question

My 1080ti is giving me  trouble lately. I play on Rift (HDMI) and have my monitor connected to Display port (via dvi adapter).

About a week ago i noticed after flying in VR, that my Monitor has switched of, VR and virual Desktop still ran no problems.  After quiting VR a few seconds the signal was back, but the monitor switching off and on a few times. First seemed like some power saving mode was going rouge, or the cable loose/faulty. The days after it got worse, more black screens, sometimes picture doenst come back at all, but VR (hdmi) still runs fine.

I suspected a faulty DP and tried to use another DP (3 DP on the card, 1xhdmi), but no signal. Win doesnt recognise the monitor. I then organised 2 more monitors to see, if all 3 get detected (2xDP, 1xHDMI). At some point it showed the 3 monitors in the display settings, although only 2 showed the desktop. The third one only hat its led "on", but stayed black. Later i couldnt recreate this setup, now only 2 Monitor (1DP, 1HDMI) are active at the same time.

 

Now my question is, maybe someone can check, does Win prioritise which DP is used? If it still sees the first 1 DP that i always used as "OK", and i plug into another DP, should Win recognize it an switch to that DP? From my own expirience i know DP and cables can be a tricky topic, but with this question answered i can at least look at my future options.
