IckyATLAS Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 (edited) A Mediterranean theater would be a nice follow up to BON, and it would be pretty easy to do. The map work would mean a large map but with lots of water. If the map covers Sicily, Malta, part of north Africa. North Africa being lots of desert. From the planes side we are already pretty well covered except for the Sparviero and some italian fighters. We need a little more ships modelled here. I have the feeling that it would be an easier step before the Pacific Theater. Lots of water, some desert environment. In terms of performance desert environment is surely higher in FPS than a well designed jungle environment, at low altitude. Edited January 25, 2020 by IckyATLAS 3

As I v already suggested IL2 GB could move in the time frame 43-44 in a med scenario. -Italian planes ( Mc 205, SM 79,Re 2001,G55) - a lot of planes we already have fit perfectly in this scenario. Maybe 2021 ??? 1

IckyATLAS Posted January 25, 2020 Author Posted January 25, 2020 I would make it a little larger to encompass the gulf of Taranto. It would be a 700x700 km map but with a lot of water. Next gen graphic cards with lots of Memory will handle such maps like a breeze. Nice action in Taranto with torpedo biplanes.

JV69badatflyski Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 The right malta map would be like 500 on 800km's , the better malta map would be 600 on 900. The italy invasion map would need the same size. And because of the different terrains types, you'd need a lot of textures, a big lot of them! and guess what, in contrary to the general idea: a desert area is much harder to make than something like the ETO, especially because there is nothing, you have to make the desert feel right, not an easy task.
