I currently am using and am pretty happy with a Pimax 5K and can’t afford to upgrade it at present,BUT I am looking forward to a new VR headset that finally eliminates SDE and buying a new 2080 graphics card:$$$$. Initially I had the original Oculus Rift and liked the quality and price of the Oculus, but didn’t feel the next version did much to eliminate FPS and returned it after trial. WShat I hoping is that Oculus has something down the road that will bring me back esp. if the price is right...At the moment my only other choice seems to be the Pimax 8K ($$$$) to be released soon or do what I have to do anyway :wait and see what the next generation of VR will bring.

 Your input greatly appreciated.

Valve Index is a nice headset but pricey if you don't already have the base station or stations.

Nothing on horizon from Oculus that has been hinted at, except they currently working on Oculus Link ( Using the Quest with the PC ), and hand tracking.

Since both Rift S and Quest were just launched last May, I would not expect any new headset from Oculus this year.

But that is just a guess on my part.

Oculus seems really focused on the mass market.  I doubt they'd be releasing a high end headset.  As you said the Oculus CV1 to rift s wasn't much of a jump.  They're really focused on a model that appeals to someone only wanting to pay $500.  I think its great cause they'll get alot of casual users  into VR.  For simming I'd wait for the Pimax 8KX.
