When people refer to DCS as next generation, they are usually talking about when things will be finished.

 Worthy of a signature. ?

Patience is a virtue, Grasshopper.

Doing what you say you're going to do in a reasonable time-frame and going forward with a logical, sensible development plan are also virtues.

Its nice to have the Mosquito announced

It will be the first 2 engined piston , and might lead to more. I did not know this. I am more a Beufighter/ A 20 kind of guy. Might be a radial fetish . But still Good old mossy is a good substitute

Yeah...announcing is the easy part.

Healthy skepticism, I admit, but for some reason the announced products is somehow more trust worthy nowadays. But the complexity come at a price. It take a great deal longer in DCS for many reasons

Their interests and resources are spread too thinly.

Pick a direction, and do it right. Don't waste resources on aircraft that will ultimately have no satisfying final use - (MiG 15/F-86).

Instead direct those resources toward the completion of a unified, cohesive goal. Then move on.

I've lost track of how many years ago I bought the Dora now...still no semblance of a complete Western Front theater.

Unfortunately it's too late for DCS to course correct and bear fruit any time soon.

Damn...I've been Gambit too long, or I could be "Socrates", although I prefer the "Bill and Ted" pronunciation So Crates

It all comes down to whether you enjoy it and can overcome disadvantages and lacks. I've been flying DCS P-51 for almost 4 years now. Four years online, mostly on Burning Skies which is a WoL of DCS (larger, but lesser - distances to cover are greater, but there are fewer targets to pound on the ground so its all about air combat and that shows with stat fighters on Luftwaffe side) and I still enjoy it. Sometimes its frustrating, but most of the time its fun. With former CloD server, Storm of War, than is now being in development for DCS I think we may finally get a server with realistic and semi-historic missions.

In my opinion what someone proposed on DCS forums, that is, development of ww2 aircraft in FC style, only later to be turned into full fidelity modules is a good approach since according to Yoyo it saves time on developing cockpit functionality but FMs and systems remain mostly the same, so flying experience is not different either.

So I have bought the Huey and updated to 2.5. Wanted to set up a quick mission. In 1.5 there was a section called mission planner before you start where you select liveries and loadouts. Where the hell has it gone? Now there is only the map and editor available in that screen.

I couldn't agree more.  A low level chopper sim with gameplay would be pretty amazing.

Yeah, but DCS still desperately needs an F-104 more than anything else. :good:

I presume ye are all aware of the big bundle heli sale in DCS starting on the 5th of September. I only picked up the Viggen on sale as my first step into DCS. I think I`ll take the plunge on the heli`s with this pack.

It is where it always was, just the GUI got redesigned slightly. The planner button is still there in the middle of the screen when editing one of existing missions.

When creating new fast mission, the drill is also the same as previously: Create Fast Mission -> Advanced -> Generate -> Edit > click on your A/C -> click on the loadout icon in properites menu and do your thing.

It was always open on the side of the map by default in the mission planner in my previous versions.

Why not?

It fits in with their current maps and ground units about as well as the MiG 15 and F-86 do. Development resources just as well squandered.

If you're going to be petulant, you'll lose the So Crates moniker.

Now relax. Breathe. ✌

OK - you’re right.

Se-5a should be next...oh wait that doesn’t fit with anything else...oh wait it fits just as well as the F1 car or the Sabre.

this has my curiosity

Posted

I remember waiting months and months in anticipation for the original LOMAC.

I flew for a 30 minutes, realized that the F-15 had canned landing physics, uninstalled, and that was that.

Didn't bother with them again until the Dora, and I've already explained how that went.

Maybe this release will redeem them.

History and knowledge of currently available maps etc has me not holding my breath.

Sure makes for pretty movies and still screenies though.

Man they can sure make some nice promo vids.

I bought the game when LOMAC came out, bought Flaming Cliffs, and then the DCS initial releases, jumped on board with the WWII Kickstarter and got the whole package.  So I'm still sitting here years later still waiting for the plane that was the reason I got the package.......... the P-47, so in my view the P-47 needs to be a flyable plane.  Otherwise they need to admit it will never be flyable, and give those still waiting credit for a plane of their choice, and same with the 262.....  Until those are released or I'm given credit for two of my choice I won't buy another module from them, their customer satisfaction rating in my mind is very low.  Just my two cents worth.....................

Cheers

In game footage maybe. In game audio definitely not.

Yeah, it isn't a problem now. As a matter of fact, I can't remember the last time I blew my engine. It's been quite a while. I think a lot of it was people not understanding engine control. Not all of it, but a lot of it.

A god damned masterpiece that I would be happy to fly in a scenario 100 years in the future, as long as I could just fly it!

Wolf, are you saying that you are unable to fly it? And yes, it is. It's the airplane that I've been flying more than any other, at the moment. When I sit down to fly a sim, that's the one I pull up. Often, I'll then come into BOX and fly my Spits. Or CLOD where I enjoy flying the.....wait for it.....Spitfire. But the DCS Mark 9 has been taking up most of my simming time. I'm almost done with the Epson campaign. I'll probably run it again when I'm through.

And if you can't control the Spitfire, what difficulty are you having? Maybe we can talk, and fix it.
