dburne Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 Very nice! No idea when I will be able to make time to learn the thing though. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
Trooper117 Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 I won't be buying it however... I'm still waiting for the F-4 ? 3 2
AndyJWest Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 Testing out my new ride. Don't do this. Or not for long... ...because the engines don't seem to like it. It's gone rather quiet in here... ? I'm not sure parachute airspace sharing is approved procedure. And to be honest, I'd rather not be within ass-kicking distance of my WSO right now. The manual doesn't seem to cover emergency engine restarts, though I'm not sure I had time anyway. Hopefully my next flight will include the landing bit. It's optional, but generally recommended... 3 1
DD_fruitbat Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 Its pretty quick when you strip it all off with just the 4 fuselage missiles! First impressions, I like it a lot. Now after mapping the essentials and generally just learning to fly, take off and land, its going to be tutorials to kill stuff ! 1

Gambit21 Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 Purchased a long time ago but actually installing might never happen. Still - glad it’s out for y’all that have the spare time. She looks like a beauty. Next jet I install will be the F-4. 1
Guest deleted@83466 Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 Oops, accidentally bought the wrong version.

FlyinCoffin Posted June 23, 2023 Posted June 23, 2023 (edited) Does someone know what happens when you are doing full rudder(left or right) in the bf109 k- module. Rudder is pretty much the same from the feel in CLoD an IL2GB. Edited June 23, 2023 by FlyinCoffin

Happens pretty much in that moment and plane gets unstable(does a turn)(like in CLoD) is the plane still flying stable like in (does no turn)(IL2GB)? Need to know You probably need to clarify your question. Are you trying to sideslip the airplane?

Well I did the mistake here. got wrong memory.(always thinking Rudder in CLoD and IL2GB is different buts the same. somehow I tried now and the rudder of the bf109 e7 feels very much the same like in IL2GB. Justicier Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Ahhh there's the old girl... Haven't flown the Strike Eagle since there were a good amount of flight sims on the market to include this classic... Those were great days for combat flight sims... before the Dark Times... 1 1
AndyJWest Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 Data entered into the pilots UFC display scratchpad is repeated in the WSO's and vice versa... ?

DD_fruitbat Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 Haven't had much time lately, but have learnt enough to like that big ass radar, even in TWS it holds lock beautifully as long as you understand its constraints.. 1

How many TWS modes do you want? Yes. The TWS-handling is a bit tossed up, though. ?
AndyJWest Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 Big-ass Mudhen radar in high-resolution A to G mode, taking a look at Egypt from 36,000 ft. Guess where the waypoint is. As I get closer, I can get a larger image. From 46.9 nm it should be easy enough to figure out. Note the triangular shadows. Suez Canal swing bridges from 20,7 nm away. Again, the radar shadow helps identification. Visual fly-by, for comparison: 5

Varibraun Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 I currently own nothing modern, but the RL video below is giving me the itch. I see the F-16 is currently on sale, other than time, is there any reason not to pull the trigger on the F-16 as my first "modern" purchase? PS - The video is simply awesome, I can't believe he literally talks us through the dogfights while at one point pulling 7Gs. 1

If you aren’t that set on the F-16 but just generally you want a “modern multi-role bluefor jet” maybe the Hornet along the Carrier DLC can be seen as something that only DCS can provide (given that Falcon BMS would still be my first choice for flying a Viper). Things like the A-10C and the Harrier are also excellent modules, though definitely only geared toward the ground strike role. If you consider it modern enough the F-14 can also be interesting… 1
AndyJWest Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 Manuals, who needs them? With hardly a clue as how to employ the Mudhen A to A, I've just run an easy-peasy practice mission - 12 Yak-40s cruising around as targets. Slow, and don't shoot back, obviously, but the intent was to figure out the basics first. With 4 AIM-120s, 4 AIM-9Ms, and the gun, I managed 8 kills. One of the AIM-9s missed (fired from too far off, I think), and the gun pipper seems misaligned, resulting in some iffy gunnery, but not bad, considering I was winging it, using whatever the default radar setting is, and working on the basis that the HUD symbology indicates what I expect it to. Which seems mostly to be true, or at least, if it doesn't it didn't matter. Dealing with anything that might fight back is probably going to require a little more research...

Well worth the time and effort to put into learning it, but be warned it will be a lot to put into it. I have flown like 5 or 6 campaigns now all off the Supercarrier and loved doing them and have more now yet to do. Currently working on some WWII stuff in DCS but will be back to some more Hornet campaigns very soon. They are my favorite. Edited June 27, 2023 by dburne 1

Trooper117 Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 You don't need all that fancy razzmatazz with the F-16... just do great BFM with the F-86 or the F-5. 2
