Hornet is really cool. Getting back to Hornet more intensely now, after doing some other stuff, reminded me how much fun it really was.

Speaking of protecting Scandinavia, Hornet has also been the first aircraft in line for that for the last 25 years and will be so for the next 5 to 10 years, until being replaced by F35's in Finnish Air Force.

Yeah I know, I was not getting to that because it ruin my point.
I totally get the Hornet hype, my main main main interest is choppers. I like civilian task best. Therefor taking on the Hornet will occupy too much time and I already can (sort of) take off and land on carriers with A 4 , Hornet and Tomcat. And that is what I would like best. This fire and forget ordinance thingy has never been my thing

I'm having an issue with the the F-16 since the last update (Possibly)

I've not used the F-16 in a while but went to set up a mission in it today and the External fuel tanks under the wings don't have the correct texture - whatever skin I choose.  Instead they show as that weird green texture you get when there is an issue with the skin.

Is anyone else seeing this?  I've not seen anything reported about i and I've done a clean up of the files and I am still getting it.

Any ideas?

Texture corruption in the core software folder; try running a repair of DCS World.

Thanks - I did a clean up then a repair of the Main folder and it's still happening.  Not seen an issue with any other plane.

Compared to the Hornet's weapons the Apache's should be a breeze.

You have 2 weeks to start producing spectacular screenshots of your exploits in battle, or else we don’t believe you.

I don't own F-16 module, but remember that neither repair nor cleanup commands affect your Saved Games folder (they check the main game folder only), so if there's any custom mod located in there which messed up something in DCS, repair won't help. Maybe you've got that Israeli F-16 Sufa mod installed and forgot about it? I recall reading it featured some custom 3D object models which affected "stock" F-16 as well.

But will it come? I rather have the Cobra my self. The current version. It going to be replaced by the Viper. A glass pit version.

I read the manual looked at some videos. Took a instant mission in Marianas

fired all weapons , landed on all cruisers.
It is not the screens and modes that confuse me. It is the language. WAS-UP, Symbology

Starting in this type you have no clue what to look for.
It got better field of fire on the gun compared to Hind. A bit more fiddling aiming the rockets  but very accurate when you get the aiming right. Compared to the Hind it is easier to control and just as stable. Main point to me is I can use it for my type of flying. But I still like the Hind better. But I suspect AH 64 will get more campaigns than any other chopper

My next campaign to fly in the Spit - Beware Beware. Going to get started on it probably today, but really need to get back to some Apache training and Hornet action to keep fresh with it as well.

Great stuff... I'm beefing up my flight skills on the F-86 Sabre at the moment and hoping soon to be playing the 'Hunters over the Yalu' campaign... I'll be keeping my eyes open for 'Casey Jones'... I hear he's around again!

I was thinking taking a Mig 15 campaign. Or 19 if that exist.

Do not stress. It is no fun when that happens.
I flown KA 50 and Hind and the MI 8 so much I dream about them.
you will remember. What happens is you suck for a while going back. But you do remember.
KA 50 make my head overcooked in intense combat. Because I no longer have the feel for it. I know what to do but it is no longer intuitive.
pilots in real life stick to what they do. If changing mission type like many F 16 pilots did. Going over to ground attack. They trained for that a lot.
You have to let go, have fun with your Spit, then go devoted back to your Hornet and get it in your fingers again. Do not take long time. It just what we must in order to have fun

Wow  - this campaign looks really cool!! - I'll have to take a more serious look at DCS and if my somewhat dated machine can handle it? - This campaign makes me want to start saving for my next rig!! - Thanks for posting this!!

Picked up the 109k and p-47 in latest sale. Takeoffs in the k are interesting. Landed fairly easily first try, lucky.

You’ve probably already figured the 109 takeoff out, but stick back in lower right hand corner at the start, steer with toe brakes and rudder, then ease off the elevator towards a little down pressure as speed rises, but keeping a lot of right aileron in until you lift off.  This seems to work consistently for me and takeoffs stopped being a nightmare.

Totally keep forgetting to charge the Mk108.

Without a doubt. It’s one of the few “A-List” aircraft that’s not accounted for.
Low hanging fruit.

When/who is the question.

Apache is not a CAS platform.

I want CAS.

The Apache is, fine, but it still doesn't scratch my whirly bird itch.

A couple more weeks to wait on F-15E pre-order, but no biggie... There isn't another open beta update planned until March so it's not like it was gonna release in February anyway. I still appreciate them having a date they are aiming for and kudos for the honest transparency!

A lot for choppers. I figure 1 a year. I have no hopes regarding mass production.

How is it even possible to resist a Strike Eagle, Lusekofte?

No seriously, I sort of understand: another menu-heavy plane to learn that will overwrite all your finely practiced motor skills for whatever airplane you were competent on before!  But I that’s what we do in DCS, so I’m in.  Unlike what I experienced in the F-14, I’m hopeful that what you learn in the front seat will also get you a long way towards knowing the back seat and vice versa (I mean, we’ll see…)

We will need this when the F-4 comes out... The Mig-17... watch the full after burner, awesome stuff!
