LOL well I certainly did not care for the Great Battles Jug, so maybe I should check it out.

Definitely recommend picking up the DCS P-47.  It's head and shoulders better than the ones in GB and more closely aligns with what you read about the P-47 from WWII.

F*$&k all you, and your screenshots, you leave me no choice but to buy more.

The Jug feels real..... GB's does not, and it's a blast to fly and fight. Reflected's campaign for it is fantastic. You'll get that big formation of B-17s looks like. Hands down best ROI of any other module I've got.

Thanks I will be sure and check his campaign out when I get my arms wrapped around it.

I would recommend Beware Beware for the Spit from Reflected. Anything Reflected creates, is gold standard for DCS campaigns, IMO of course.

S!

Have a bunch of Reflected's campaigns. Well done and worth the affordable price. And he did promptly answer to any issues/questions.

Personally I think they are screwing up there dragging it out so long but that is just me.

Absolutely so. They have said many times that the work on the new project is already well under way, so why the secrecy, unless they expect it to be "bad news" for the community. After this DCS promo video some frustrated GB players might jump the hype train and might not look back afterwards. I have personally preferred the GB for the WWII part, because it offers a better overall WWII gameplay, but interest in DCS WWII is definitely rising now.

Me too I am switching to DCS now for WWII mainly because I can use my Point CTRL with it and the upcoming carrier ops. But it is also good timing because of how the new regime is handling things now. It gives me brushes of bad memories when the series was first released and how they looked at things then. That was not fun.

Just purchased Beware Beware by Reflected for my first campaign in Spit. Game on.

Argh! Help!

Just a few hours until the sales end and these are my options: get the Jug and its campaign, or just be patient and wait for the release of the campaign for the Mossie, which I already have?

Or go for something else entirely and introduce myself to the... civilized world of MSFS?

I have MSFS 2020 and I just do not have the time for it - and I am retired! Combat is my first love, so DCS gets most attention. Have not flown in MSFS 2020 in a few months now. Get the Jug.

Never to old! Never to late!

Good Lord if I only kept what I have now and flew all of the WWI, WWII, Korea/Vietnam and modern content that I have, I would have enough for 2 lifetimes. Yet I keep on buying new stuff and dabble here, dabble their and damn do I have fun doing it!!! By the time I do retire in 10 more years, I will be set for 3 lifetimes.:joy:

Speaking of DCS WWII, I suppose that Channel map is the top choice rather than Normandy map?

Channel looks better, but  it's much smaller and not used in multiplayer.

Normandy is due to a big upgrade soon, and is the top choice for multiplayer.

Reading his intro it sounds somewhat complex - you say though it would be good for a first Spit campaign? I have purchased already as well but I can try another one first if necessary.

Yep. As of now it is dimensions better. However there is supposed to be a Normandy II map out this year ranging from London to Paris.

All the immersion I get with it, from being able to actually flip all those switches in VR using my Point CTRL finger trackers is just very hard to beat now. Plus we have now a carrier coming to WWII for the Corsair. Carrier Ops are my favorite in the Hornet.

I can certainly see the attraction. For me its a little less since I don't fly VR.

But the a carrier coming to WWII for the Corsair will be very attractive that's for sure.

Me too. I really hope that the new management do well for themselves and for the community. Soon.

I have an ambivalence relationship to Gb because it got a multiplayer focus and have taken away all means of defence on planes I like to fly. So I uninstalled it.
DCS got choppers with good campaigns and I do not have to deal with people.
msfs got planes I like and I can do what I want. Therefore is GB in my last spot on the list

Reflected has done a very nice overview of his campaigns rating their difficulty level:

Did not buy MS FS 2020 for the exact same reason !

I even had the chance, during the Steam sales on day 1, to get the MS FS 2020 Standard version for something like 13 USD ... but still did not pull the trigger.

Today, after looking at the DCS 2023 Beyond video I know I made the right choice not to buy MSFS 2020 ...

too much new DCS WWII and Cold war content is coming for it.

I see no reason for not having msfs. Only advantage. Nothing else come even close to what it’s best of.
DCS and MSFS is a real good mix. But I am also fed up by war at these times. I use DCs for civilian missions too. What MSFS do very nicely is you can choose the level of complexity in all things in a split second. You do not have to spend month learning a AC just to forget it a week later.
I like the vintage ac on MSFS but warbirds and choppers are best covered in DCS. It all come down to priority and money

Out of curiosity, have you tried choppers in MSFS, too? How do they compare to DCS?

Only because it is based 100% on real missions on the map it actually took place on I believe. I might have to pick it up to add to my 'one day' pile lol.
I do know I will be having a hell of a fight with myself not to pick up the Phantom.

Hmm... I was hoping for something else for the Mossie, we'll see how it turns out. Speaking of Wolfpack, he's obviously put a great amount of work and passion into historical research, but I find it a bit off-putting, to be flying missions recreated from actual reports, but placed somewhere else almost entirely beacause the actual locations are not available in the map. I'm nitpicking, I know. I really like the concept in the case of Beware, beware! because there it just works perfectly, similarly to Bunyap's Epsom.

Gaming is always gonna require a bit of imagination.  The 56th FG was still flying Razorback instead of Bubble-top P-47s during the March 44 too but you use what you have ?

Not exactly true, it won't be an update but a completely new map. The are going to coexist side by side as the old campaigns will not work on a new Normandy 2

At least that's what is says in Q&A

How complex could it get? It's WWII.

No onboard systems systems etc.

Nice to know an optimist nowadays , keep playing and having fun as much as you can !

....but when I purchased state-of- the-Art computers with floppy and Dos xx, monochrom screen, I didn't imagined what will be 10 years later....

In 2033 Great Battles Falkland could as well be playable on some semi-liquid fishtank with quantic MS win112 and invisible screen in your brain  ?

Also, I astutely bought a lot of miniature wargames to paint once retired -to play with my friends-  but friends move and die.......,and miniature paintings requires sure hands and acute vision -both qualities who vanish with time !

But this another story.

I have absolutely no chance in any of these except Huey

and after 3 missions I find it impossible to continue due to that map’s performances

Anyway, I understood A6 Intruder also will come this year. I might be motivated for that one
