DCS critic “yes, but it will take them 10 years to …and we don’t have a real map..”?

Impressive as hell, all I can say.  And Chinook.

I’ll take ‘em both.

Corsairs from the ground, Hellcats from the carrier.

I'm resisting the joke about teaching you how to land the Corsair on a carrier ??

I reckon i can take crashing helicopters to a whole new level with a Chinook!

I don't care how long... we have two iconic Pacific war aircraft to look forward to... but I'm more worried there are no iconic Japanese aircraft to fight them with...

I’ll come and visit and you can teach me :). I’m guessing you’re talking about coming in low, at an offset/angle so you can see…rather than coming in straight and blind and thus courting death?

Your more than welcome, and lol yes, that would be the approach I'd recommend!

AI assets are coming including a Zero.  More would obviously be nice but it's just nice to see a developer placing a flag in the pacific....FINALLY.

If they announce the Phantom pre-order.... I know some of yall will just lose it ???

Hopefully the ending tease is something cool, maybe a Hellcat or other warbird ?

Hellcat was first thing that crossed my mind.

I'm kinda surprised actually guessed it but it has been kinda teased for a few years.  If their recent warbirds are any indication, it's gonna be an amazing module right along with the F4U

Well I have come to a difficult decision. Spent the day today flying the DCS Spitfire, all cold starts taxi to runway and takeoffs - Channel Map. Getting cold starts down pretty good now, won't be long I won't need my notes, same as Hornet and it was a lot more complex to learn.  Fly out to the cliffs and fly around for a while then back to base. Have now gotten my takeoffs and landings down pretty good.

All the immersion I get with it, from being able to actually flip all those switches in VR using my Point CTRL finger trackers is just very hard to beat now. Plus we have now a carrier coming to WWII for the Corsair. Carrier Ops are my favorite in the Hornet.

I love IL-2 Great Battles, and will always continue to support it fully monetarily and undoubtedly will fly it some more later on down the road, but for now my WWII attention will be DCS. It will be interesting to see where the Great Battles series goes under their new direction which for some reason they like to keep to themselves for now. Personally I think they are screwing up there dragging it out so long but that is just me. I will though definitely purchase whatever they offer next.

So now - DCS - Hornet, Apache, and Spitfire. I am not going to have time for anything else. Oh and looks like I will be adding a Chinook here soon to learn. I was just thinking earlier I needed a cold war module, that will fit the bill nicely.

Definitely not just you. Anyway, I'd like to ask to those of you who played it, how is Reflected's Wolfpack campaign? I'm mostly afraid that the carefully crafted immersion will be spoiled by the AI (I've had traumatic experiences, including Spitfires flying inverted and in flames, all the way across the Channel). So, what should I expect?

someone in moscow has hedged the bet that whatever they finally announce is going to be so genre defining amazing that all will be forgiven.  I hope it works out for them...

Back to DCS, I'm stoked for the future, they have a solid competent team (along with the 3rd parties) at the helm and are running on all cylinders which is nice to see! Looking forward to what releases first this year (fingers crossed it's the F-15E ?)

Most DCS WWII stuff likely has good campaigns by now. I will be checking a Spitfire one out here soon. Thankfully I do not have to learn a gazillion diff weapons lol.

No hinds in WWII ?

It'd be nice to see some Hind campaigns eventually though, I wouldn't mind a campaign inspired by the colorful career of Neall Ellis:

Russian campaigns are tough. Custom comms is a requirement with ED…so then how does that work.

Good point!

Personally, I've got no desire for russian campaigns and there are plenty of other nations who fly the Hind that a campaign could work in addition to the one I mentioned above.  I guess we'll see though, I still haven't pulled the trigger on the hind yet, may before the sale ends tomorrow though...maybe

But with DCS QMG there can be!:o:

Have only had a few flights in the Hind, but is a Big lumbering Beautiful Beast of a Heli, armed to the teeth. I like the SP control of the weapons officer also. It is quite simple and intuitive. Get it at half price. It is a steal!

What? Why not the Jug? That's the best DCS WWII module aside from the Mossie...you really should fly that Jug...it's a proper Jug...and there's a great campaign for it to boot.

So to amend your status, Hornet, Apache, Jug, and if you have time after...the Spitfire.

You're welcome.

LOL well I certainly did not care for the Great Battles Jug, so maybe I should check it out. As I said not too involved in learning the WWII birds so I don't mind trying them as much.

Sorry no I meant to say P-47 Thunderbolt lol. Rough day. Spit is still number one though.

Hornet Apache Spitfire Thunderbolt Corsair when it comes.

Apache really just gets a little time in betwixt and between the Hornet and Spit now. Hornet I do much campaign flying, Spit about to embark on a first campaign.
