I hadn't heard about that. I'm still on the fence with this one but it does look like a nice plane.

No, they did not... neither did the MSFS team, they are running a sale too for a few days, seems like everyone got the memo except....

Where?

Doesn't seem too bad to me. It feels "different" on the stick, though. Much more like an IL-2 or MSFS aircraft, where joystick-travel equals a force, instead of stick-fravel.

I haven't seen any discussion of this. I'm interested in the plane but this concerns me a bit.

I think at the end of the day it's still "early access" (read "first release"), despite being "feature complete".

So far, I have ripped my wings-off two or three times due to not observing g-limits for non-empty tip-tanks. And I've had a brown-pants moments after effing up a high-atitude formation barrel-roll and coming out near vertical. Mach Tuck is a thing and it's a nasty fella! I managed to escape - the wingman thought "trimming out of the dive" was a good idea and was awarded with a prompt and quick practical review of the bail-out procedure.

In DCS "feature complete" has about a 24-hour shelf life.

3rd party back channels.

Check edge of envelope, stall behavior etc.

To be fair there was some back and forth on the matter.

I thought in the patch notes for the beta version the new AI had been put in for WWII as well...

From the patch notes

Quote
  • WWII AI warbirds: improved behaviour and fixed collision during landing in pairs

I can't find the other quote I was looking for, but one of the mods said that the dogfighting improvements was just for jets right now.

Yeah WWII will come later...hopefully not too much later.

Short video showing the new moving clouds and weather. The rain stops for a bit, then starts again as the clouds move in again, very cool.

You and your Secret Squirrel "current issues". ?

I haven't read anything about the FM being off, but being a person of at least medium repute, it's possible you've got the skinny. I hope someone does an in-depth review soon.

Basically stall behavior and rudder authority from what I understand.

Also it's not secret, just a matter if you want to purchase the aircraft to test for yourself or not.

I am firmly situated on the fence for the moment.

I like new toys, but do I want to spend $80 on that particular toy? Not sure. The L-39 did nothing for me and the 101 was kinda fun. I'd like to see a good comparison video as regarding the FM and the eye candy and all that stuff. If someone reputable said it was like the 101 but better in every way, that would push me to the "buy it" side of things.

That's exactly what I was after.

I can't really find anything wrong with the stall - it just cleanly breaks ahead and it doesn't roll-off like the L-39.

The rudder-authority is kind of iffy, but you can do a spin and a lomcevak, so it's not *bad*.

Plus: Formation-flying is a breeze. I also like the engine stalling when taking off on a wet runway (need to hold down the relight button!).
