Cool but when can I shoot a Stearman down with an F-22?

In the mood for team killing, are we? ^^

It wouldn't be team killing in DCS, the community there decided years ago that both teams should be able to fly anything they want, including planes from the other side.

They wouldn't do that silly - the F-22 and Stearman are on the same side.

The F-22 is being released with the Fokker DVII-F and the Antarctica map.

SR-71 should come first - I need something to intercept in my mix of 40's, 50's and 90's aircraft.

Used to fly the SR-71 in FSX (or FS9, not sure) and it was a riot.

I'd buy a DCS Blackbird.

...and at the rate they're going you may very well get the opportunity to buy it.

In two weeks, be sure!

Sorry SG I had to, most missed what you were saying I think.

You'd be flying in circles on those little maps. ;)

Not really - maybe one.

I'd just fly straight up and keep going.

Has been for a while now. It's one of the planes I might buy, even if there's nothing for it to do.

I'm sure Ghost will be here in a bit to tell you what all you can do in DCS with that aircraft

You can make fun of that all you want, but in the end it is pretty silly...

The I-16 is incredibly effective at dodging 2nd-3rd Gen SAM missiles and can outmaneuver an F-5-E at sea level.

It has an incredibly low radar cross section but it relies on full-visual/full-manual IFF.

A2G rockets are effective against 3rd Gen battle tanks like the M1 Abrams and older 2nd Gen hardware like the T-72.

You may have a little trouble catching up to an SR-72 at altitude but it is surprisingly effective at intercepting the UH-1 and civilian passenger trains.

Also, Fink... Don't encourage them...

Make fun of what? Ghost? I'm not. I enjoy his commentary on the subject. That's why I mentioned him lol

I meant the fact there will be not much to do with those kind of planes. Ghosts comments are funny, but in the end it's a bit sad that in a couple of months or years you will be able to buy a I-16 for DCS to fly on a 1944 Normandy map. Why would one ask?....

Just remember, for the most part, don't turn inside of the I-16 in your SR-71...that's just stupid.

Not sure how Vietnam would make it any less disjoint. There isn't a single aircraft in the game that served in the Vietnam war nor are there any planned that I'm aware of.

Mig 15

MiG-15, MiG-21 and P-51 are my favorite modules with the first two being absolutely marvelous. Shame with first one there is little to do and second one is a cannon fodder for more modern jets high or F5Es down low. That leaves Mustang to play around.

Its not everyday you see something moving quickly in DCS WW2.

 have it a

DCS is such a disjointed product, it's a bit absurd.

Mmmmm... yeah, maybe. But is does allow people to pick and choose between a variety of very cool aircraft to fly with some pretty sweet eye-candy.

I'd drop the cash tomorrow if they put out an F-104, whether it is armed or not. I just want the flightsim experience.

I miss my old MSFS F-104. It was great fun, but to have it at DCS level... Yeah baby!

I want to be excited for DCS but I'm not sure if that's even physically possible anymore.

I guess you could say that ED gave me... ED...

Maybe if we get a "hello kitten" skin on the aircraft?

So on MP servers there's no way for the host to restrict what planes are available for players to fly?

How are missions for the WWII aircraft in the game?

And some Germans over Normandie :)

With Bomber formations.

Original Video is on Facebook.

The bomber formation looks nice enough, but the comment that it "runs pretty smooth with 15 planes in the air" seems strange. These are simplified DCS AI, right? Should it really be an issue to have 15 of them on the screen at one time? How are people supposed to create the dozens-strong formations of B-17s?

How many could you create in IL-2?

It's not surprising that DCS Normandy wouldn't be very optimized at this point

An F117-A with a Hello Kitty skin may be the trick.

Do you think the skin increases radar signature?

Which IL-2?

When I flew with ACG we were escorting dozens of bombers over the channel at a time.

Sorry. BoSBoMBoK

That being said, DCS formations are on par with BOX if not a little better.

At least from what I gather - I've never cracked open the ME and put 30-40 He 111's in the air.
