Yes, great offer.

I am getting the Channel Map on this.

After many tries I am getting more into DCS, having a blast in Huey. Waiting for Hind.

Syria map is great.

I think now is the time to try DCS.

No excuse for anyone 'not' to try DCS now... :yahoo:

I absolutely love it ( in addition to IL-2). Have had a blast in learning and campaign flying in the Hornet.

I think "666" or "69" would be more appropriate

After several sorties the RIO stepped into an F-16. The Viper's just such a beauty. We managed to kill a MiG-31 and then we managed to bust a naval raid consisting of several Su-24s and Su-30s.

I don't manage to fly on proper close formation-cues, though. I'd probably need a VR device for that ?

LOL...I'm absolutely CRAP at formation flying...whoa way too slow....WHOA WAY TOO FAST ARGH!! Whoa too far away...WHOA TOO CLOSE!!!! etc.

Then when I do get it buttoned up...Lead is not allowed to make any turns...strict rule.

222 Danger Dogs was what I came up with after much inward debate.

I need a custom skin. I can do it as that's my background, but no time to figure out DCS workflow, so need to find a guy.

Prolly just pick an actual squadron for the Viper campaign.

I'm seriously thinking of adding the Huey...early 90's time frame...I can come up with a reason why some gunships were brought back into service...maybe contractors.

That would be fun...and no button/screen/HOTAS helmet fire.

I was playing an updated version of the 1980s movie 'The Final Countdown', but this time it is about a lone I16 protecting the Crimea from Annexation by  Putins F 15 flying SVR pilots that make it look like the 'Mericans' did it.  All I have to do is learn to speak Russian, get in close and personal in my I16 and the F 15s don't stand a chance against my snap shot capabilities and in the end the world will think I saved the Crimea from the USA invasion when I tell them speaking Russian. It is quite an elaborate campaign and I am still working on financing for the film, but the new movie will be titled, 'The Final Beatdown, A Sardonic Adventure', hopefully premiering in a movie theater near you soon.

Bro, you have to let your imagination run wild when flying the I16 in DCS World, or else there is Absolutely nothing to do in it!!!

Honestly, I simply Love the I16 no matter what Combat Flight Sim it appears in. The 'Rata' simply holds a special place in my heart as does the Martlet/Wildcat. There is just something very pleasing about fighting in any of these little monsters low alt, in the horizontal, pulling flat and rolling scissors until your foe over shoots and then ripping him a new one. Quite satisfying it is.

The level of detail of the Rata in DCS is among the highest in any CFS, plus look how cool, if not a little exaggerated, the flames off the firing guns look.

Once the price was half off, I couldn't resist it or the FW 190 Anton or the Channel Map, even though I feel that DCS is still a discombobulated mess for WWII. I have accepted that this probably is what DCS WWII will always be and never reading ED's Forum saves me from getting caught up in all of the DCS BS. I simply have small doses of fun with a couple of scripted campaigns but mostly with the quick mission generator.  I forsee a QM generated low level knife fight inland over the Normandy Map (Autumn map if there is one?) with the I16 scrambling to intercept Anton's conducting an early morning JABO mission against their Aerodrome. Again, the imagination is key here, LOL. For all of the Jet Jocks I am sure DCS is a lot of fun, but I am content with WWI & WWII at the present and haven't set foot in a DCS jet in 5 years probably. To each there own, DCS is what it is.:)

that I can do. We've had a winter full of testing and many things are where they should be. FM was tested, some systems like hydraulics, weapons (including convergence / harmonization) and few others things such as sounds. Right now what is mostly remaining is cockpit perfection, final testing and sending to ED for their part of testing and evaluation. Rudel is working on cockpit details like piping, if you take a look at some pictures of Corsairs you will see ungodly amount of pipes and wires exposed in the cockpit. All this can be seen by user and all this has to be modeled. And its the cockpit that really takes so much time.
On my end I can say that I had a mix of fortune and misfortune in finding documentation. I have found a lot of interesting documents regarding rockets, gunsights, toss bombing equipment and Bat bomb but only a portion of them could be researched as due to pandemic most archives (for example NARA facilities in Seattle and College Park and Smithsonian NASM) and museums are down. Oh, and I've spent a fair portion of last month writing a manual for the DCS F4U.

Knowing we're getting a WW2 version of the Marianas, and it sounds very likely that ED are going to do a Hellcat from interviews recently, an Essex class carrier and rumoured AI Zero, I can make that sandpit work!

I can make that sand pit work too...(with a few more assets like boats, Japanese ground vehicles, AI aircraft other than the Zero etc)

Scenarios will be a bit thin with only an AI Zero to shoot at. So fingers crossed for some great assets.

I’ll be flying that Corsair no matter what - whether I build with it depends on some things. I’d sure like to.

I’m still holding out hope that they’ll surprise us with flyable Zero plans.

For me and WWII it’s PTO or nothing.

As I see it, Corsair probably have flown over Nevada, just not strafing the Sfnix as I will do, 1 realism out of two is good in my book

I noticed there is a very nice Zuikaku out there as a mod from a Japanese contributor.   Plus he also does a flyable A6M52 (search for it under the mod name Reisen 52).  Somebody else has done some Japanese destroyers as part of an axis naval package too.

Know what I love and appreciate? A team releasing a map with mountains, and also making sure that the AI can fly in said mountains, thus not entirely negating any purpose in having said mountains. Amazing.

Gotta work on the Danger Dogs livery

Screen_210613_164317.jpg

Testing, out of Incirlik.

I have mission logic working that detect the player's radio setting, and allows/disallows hearing the custom voice overs if not on the correct channel.

I'm progressing rapidly. Wish I was flying more, but work to do. I'll be flying a bit more as I begin testing the first few missions myself.

Cyprus is a critical component here.

Viper is priority, but work with the Hornet will proceed at the same time, just at a slower rate until the Viper component is complete.

So you do not fly A10C...In "ennemy within", my wingman can not launch anything than maverick without crashing himself in mountains or going at the oter end of the map (at least before 2.7 version)...

A few F-16 pics from tonight flying with Brems on the Dangerdogz server,

I'd gone Tank hunting with Mavericks first and bagged 5 T-80's While Brems had been Sam hunting, we then met up and took out 4 Mig 21's together, got to love this plane!!!

If it's like the Mi-8 it can be turned off. I don't know anything about the hind though.

It's handy to have on though because it's also an indicator that your approaching turbine power limits when it stops spinning.
