I guessing this is the viper...

Yep

Looking over my shoulder and seeing those vapes, and those wings flex...about the coolest thing ever.

Love the start up, the visibility...the power. Always loved the F-16, but haven’t flown it since Falcon 4.0 was released. This is going to be fun. :)

It's amazing how DCS manages to disorient you when looking outside and trying to bite your leader's wing inside a cloud when he's starting a turn.

We later on even figured out how to use the yardstick on TACAN.

Yes, Must have the Corsair at all costs! Even though it will be a fish out of water with no place to play.

?I have to get a traveling kit for sim flying, wonder if I can put that on the company? I counted, I will not be able to fly anything until christmas, the way things are going.

Anyway, timescedule has been tight this past year, If I get the urge to fly jet, I choose the Tomcat every time. It simply is so atmospheric and well made.

I do nothing else than scare Jester to bail out, but still having a blast offline. I simply cannot choose any other jet

I hope I at least can set the flight controls and fly the upcomming Hind, a little

I built a Carrier Qualification map with a couple of different carriers and Ramat David pretending to be NAS Miramar, with Haifa standing in for San Diego.

Melbourne Shuffle...

Screen_210526_000007.thumb.jpg.a4c7c60ae5a76a403b69831895701ecb.jpg

Landing on the Melbourne is relatively easy in the Goshawk - despite the small deck and landing area.

Screen_210526_000147.thumb.jpg.db8b81ecd5106cfdd6e935e37e633496.jpg

The cat-stroke isn't all that long, though.

Screen_210526_000204.thumb.jpg.d4ef12763fe1fdef4b36ec7a408510a9.jpg

Fortunately, the wing-span isn't much greater than the Skyhawk's, so the wing tip won't go much across the foul-line.

Anxiety rises...

Screen_210526_000702.thumb.jpg.12b43b02523e1874e881d7a4cb2ee3fe.jpg

And the cat effed up my landing-gear. I reproduced this once and had the same result.

I had to bingo into NAS San Diego.

Screen_210526_003218.thumb.jpg.c55aa1eba1d941a63f6a27bf8576b637.jpg

Testing the map some more, I couldn't raise the landing gear on several different Goshawks on several different tries. Seems like the banged up gear was carried over in the game. I decided to make things exciting and eject right over the runway - the airplane accelerated away vertically without the weight of the instructor and myself and our ejection seats. Not that the seat going through the canopy is modelled. The jet continued to fly errantly and kept things exciting for the neighbours for quite some time!

Only restarting the game finally allowed me to get the gear up into the well...

At this juncture, I'd rather fly a Corsair around the North Pole, with nothing to shoot but polar bears then spend another second in any other non-PTO WWII aircraft, on any map - the end.

Love the F-16N.

I didn't realize that you could configure without the pylons...tried the other night but obviously I missed something.

I'm going to try and get my 2nd Viper session in tomorrow.

I've only had 4-5 flights total so far, last one in the Viper at Nellis.

Hard to look at Nellis/Nevada down low after Syria...hope they improve it.

There is an option in the armament-menu. One takes off the ordnance, the one below takes off the pylon and shows he station X-ed out.

It also works on other airplanes - like the Hornet or the F-14.

We know we're getting the ww2 Marianas map, supposed to be a lexington class carrier with the corsair (already a vid of it landing on it floating around) and i have read somewhere of an ai zero. Add the Hellcat, and i can do a lot without having to suspend belief.....

A bit of editor work and testing. Wrapping my head completely around this editor is going to take some time, but making progress. Tonight success in keeping the AI flight lead sitting tight until the player gives the (ready to taxi) space bar input.

1st mission, patrol/familiarization flight out of Iincirlik.

A few U.S. Navy cruisers are arriving on station this morning ahead of the air group, and a proper greeting is on the agenda.

Meanwhile hostilities are ramping up between Lebanon and Israel, and Iranian and Syrian units are on the move east of Golan...not to mention rumors

of increased Russian activity in Syria...things could get interesting soon.

So, Mi-24 is nearing early access. Anyone here has bought it or is considering it?

I also wonder, if Mi-24 can be used for sling load transport. Using google, there is one reference that claims Mi-24 can carry external cargo, but no pics or anything like that. There are actually lots of pics of Mi-24 carried as cargo by another helicopter, but no pics of Mi-24 with sling cargo.

I've not purchased it yet, but know I will and I don't know why I'm stalling on it.  I've always loved the hind, so can't wait to just fly about in it.

There's a regular pause command as well as active pause. I'm not sure what you mean by fix-pause, I'm tired so probably being dumb!

Probably what you're meaning by "regular pause" - everybody stops, instead of just me.

Its the pause/break key by default, unless you have changed the mappings.?

On an aside, I wish the host could active pause online, would be great for teaching purposes, but hey ho! ?

What's everyone's average cold start/ready to roll time in the Viper?

I was at 11 minutes 30 in my first test, but I didn't mess with any ground weapons configs etc.

This is for mission/trigger/radio call timing purposes.

For some oddball reason in the Viper/Controls I don't have Time Accel mappings, but did with the F-14...that's a bit strange.

A bit of testing, AI triggers, timing ATC/Departure calls.

I took off with my lead in a 2 ship, just behind him...overcooked with the burner, overshot, and never found him again...we'll I quite the mission a few

seconds after that...embarrasing.

Use "Stored Heading" (first detent/ notch of the INS knob). That should give you a flashing "RDY" in the DED within about three minutes.

Not sure if that option needs to be checked in the mission builder, though.

Yeah...I was going to make the player do a "normal" INS calibration...more realistic? Or just more annoying?

Is "stored heading" good to go, no worries with a longer mission etc?

Bremspropeller

A normal INS calibration would probably be more ralistic, but then again, you'd be preocupied with BITs, checks and other time-consuming duties in the actual jet, so you'd have the time for the INS to get up and running.

"normal" INS calibration is called a "Full Normal Alignment" [in the C Model] ;)

IRL at the end of a sortie we would go through a couple of quick steps before shutting down in case you had to scramble using stored heading. I used a quick alignment using stored heading ONLY once, on a cross country to Hill having stopped at Bergstrom for gas. I had to do a couple position updates enroute to Hill as the INS kept drifting.
