VR_Dogfighter Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 Sorry if I'm asking a daft question, but wondering why Steam VR is always used to run this game in VR for me anyway ? I always open from the desktop not Steam. It never shows as a game in Oculus home either? Is this normal as other sims just run in oculus.
DD_Arthur Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 Unlike DCS, BoX does not have native VR support. The Occulus programme runs your Rift but the game needs Steam VR to connect to your Headset. However, Steam VR provides support for all headsets so it carries a performance penalty in that by running Steam VR you are also running all sorts of stuff that your Rift does not need. If you are a Rift user you can try this; https://gitlab.com/znixian/OpenOVR/blob/master/README.md Lots of people here are using Open Composite with their Rift as it provides a real and noticeable performance boost to VR. 1

I have a shortcut to IL-2 in my Oculus Home, not sure why you would not. As Arthur mentioned, Open Composite is the way to go with Oculus. Much leaner and meaner than Steam VR. 1

FTC_horsky Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 (edited) Does anyone know why suddenly steamVr launches over open composite even though open composite is the selected launcher, just started happening now ? Tried with steamvr beta and without, also validating files but alas ? Ok, so the updates to steam messes with it, I knew that before, to switch back to steamvr, then update the steam platform and then switch back to open composite when its done. But this time steam launched without an update, so never thought of it happening when it started up normaly. All working now as it should, thank you anyways ? Edited January 24, 2020 by horsky

After switching back to Open Composite try a reboot of the PC.
