Maybe a flyable H22 gets a mod for the V-1:biggrin:

Definitely. Would be fun to fly a plane with a V-1 attached to it.

It would amount to flying to a very specific location and flight angle before releasing the V1 (which would fly off into the distance)... It isn't like one would be able to actually aim it. It might be interesting for a 'crossbow' or anti-V1 set of missions - but probably better to keep it as an AI target for the player to attack. Were any of the launch positions for the H22 on the map? I was under the impression that they were further north (which would raise some historical accuracy issues).

On WoL somebody will be dive bombing with the thing.  :)

One could make it so that it doesn't detach properly (which is realistic) and so that the autopilot fails (which is likely realistic). But yes, the use of time-delayed bombs to fish for fighters etc. People will try also sorts of fun won't they?

I remember when the original Il-2 came out... someone made a video of dropping a torpedo onto an Me-323.

As long as people are having fun, I'm happy.  :)

I once spent an evening trying to land an E.iii onto a Gotha.

You're tempting me to try to one-up you by landing a gotha on an E.III ?

As if landing a Gotha isn't hard enough in the first place!

No one had explained to me adverse yaw properly... and the Gotha has a low enough power-to-drag ratio that attempting to simple correct for it (i.e. use rudder with aileron) can cause one to literally fall out of the air...

Takes a bit to get the hang of taking off using ailerons as air-brakes to correct during the roll-out as well! Gods I love that crate...

Got to love this forum. Someone asks about the inclusion of V1's in the Battle of Normandy expansion, and by the second page of the thread we are discussing how to land a Gotha. ?

Hello Jason. Thank you for your work. Why did not you change plane set for BoN like are 109 G6 late and A6? We don't need these planes G6 late is G14 ..  it would be better to invest your time in other aircraft :)And Why is not Flying Circus - Volume I separate game?! I think this is big problém because you need Bos and this game and prise is rly high.

And what is with newcomers that don't have any other titles?? (Not talking about steam) Also it makes no sense to sell an expansion without any fighters, since they are the probably most played part of the sim : P

Besides this, those aircraft are way easier to develop than a plane from the scratch. And they still add their own kind of flare to the series.

Only if you want to buy Flying Circus through Steam. If you purchase it here on the game's website, you don't need BOS.

As much as people keep wanting to say this, a late G-6 was not the exact same thing as a G-14. There were differences between the two that have been discussed elsewhere here.

No you don't need BOS for FC1, you can get the standalone from the official store.

You need BOS for Steam, but that's your choice.

Not everyone owns every version of the sim. The Bf109G-6 Late and FW190A-6 are subtlety different but they may also be the only fighters that someone owns on the German side if that's the only title in their collection.

Furthermore, having a couple of easier to add aircraft in the aircraft set have struck me as strategic as it likely allows for the more complex aircraft like the Me410 to receive the development time needed and still fit within the allocated and budgeted time.

I watched a documentary a few months back about the squadrons intercepting the V-1s coming over England, and one of the pilots said that he only knew of two occasions where they were tipped over by the attacking plane. Obviously, one person's recollection doesn't equate to the whole truth, but I suspect that the 'flip 'em over and send them back' thing has a large element of propaganda attached to it.

Must have been the same Tempest documentary I saw a while back, and the pilot was Robert Barckley.  He was one of the tippers, and the only other confirmed tip he knew of was by a Polish pilot.  He didn't say others couldn't have done so, but he had made equiries into the matter post-war and couldn't confirm any other.  Barckley was one of the first to have ever seen a V-1, and shot down the very last one as well, what a man!   He also stated very strongly that contrary to popular belief, 616sq, the only equipped with the Meteor at the time, played no part whatsoever in deliberate fighter defense/patrol against V-1s, even if some may have shot them down on happenstance.

I think it was the same documentary where another pilot mentioned tipping was officialy advised against as the later V-1s were rigged to blow if tipped, which lends credence to the propaganda aspect of tipping.  I'm still going to attempt it though ?

I hope they see the reason of having it as next colectable airplane now when it could be used on BoN map to unt V1s and also with Bobp map for SP.

And it would be great in MP as a balance to the 262s, even though the Meteor's were held back from the continent in real life. I think the match-up is a plausible what-if scenario that would be a fun addition to a regular mission rotation.

I think its awesome they will have it in the game. How cool would it be trollollloling around and see a V1 just cruising for the English coast?! I hope they do model the sputtering sound it made due to the continuous flap opening and closing in the engine to maximize thrust out of the back of the engine. What a cool sound that will be!!

Should sound a lot like this, this man of questionable sanity built a pulse-jet and attached it to a bicycle...

If they don't, they should hide their faces in shame for the next year. A doodlebug is not a doodlebug without that noise, which I'm sure the dev's know.

Given the fact that they even modeled the p51 gunport whistle, i am pretty sure such a detail is not left out either.

Performance of it is not mutch better then late props we have in game, so nothing can balance 262 online its airplane you should not even have online as even 1 is to big advantage to axis when you dont have numbers and situations they had to encounter in ww2 so in MP its pure cheat to use it. Meteor would be interesting novalty for game mostly usefule in SP.

My desire would be for Korea before we start adding fantasy match ups. And I don't desire Korea much at all (well, a little bit for the F9F).

V1? and what about any chance to make B-25 flyable?

Posted (edited)

Is this the place to discuss the Gotha and HP 400 or rather the lack of them?

Even fc3 is better for jets than GB. Please leave korea out of this.
Vietnam on the other hand....

Looking forward to the V-1.  I just hope a good number of them can be included in a mission and they don't all return to base when they hit 60% fuel.

At $50 a piece online, the devs could put an end to that.
