J2_raker Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 (edited) Could I suggest that we have a memorial in the forum or facebook or elsewhere with pics of our friends who have passed away? I'd really like to put a face to a name or a call sign! Maybe not only for those that have passed but for us that aree still here We could even have something more tangible that could connect us to our nicks... Edited January 21, 2020 by J2_raker
Cynic_Al Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 There are reasons such a scheme would be inadvisable. Making oneself identifiable on-line, even without using one's real name, is simply not a good idea. That said, there exists already a thread for players to identify themselves visually, should they want to take the risk. Aside from the security implications, the fact remains that it would be far from representative of reality, simply because in practice there is only a small probability of a deceased player's relatives reporting to the community. They would need to know that the player actually interacted with an online community, have the desire to report to it and know how to go about it. Have you never asked yourself how, in the event of your own passing, this or any other gaming community would learn of it? I suggest the best scheme would be simply to encourage interested players to leave easily-found instructions, to be followed in the event of their demise. The only potential downside could be an unexpected surge in notifications, suggesting the lethal effects of what we do.
