jollyjack Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 (edited) A20 flight: i set plane height to around 400m, but these A20s fly as high as 1400m, wonder what's causing that. I checked all heights and speeds, think i got them all OK, between 400 and 500m, and 250 speed. Can it be that Translator Icons for Map view set to Waypoint and Positions 1 cause this? Latter are all set to ground level. Edited January 18, 2020 by jollyjack
IckyATLAS Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 The waypoints and the Translator Icons to depict them are two distinct things. If you want the flightpath and your waypoints to be seen during the mission then you have to create in parallel to your waypoints the same trajectory with the icons connected the same way, each icon where the waypoint is and that means the same spatial coordinates. If your waypoint altitude the Y coordinate is at 400 mt then the icon is also at 400mt. Check that all your waypoints are at the right altitude. If you want your planes to strictly follow the waypoints then you must set the Priority in the Waypoint advanced parameters to High. If you put to medium or low then the planes can deviate and react either to enemies etc. 1
jollyjack Posted January 18, 2020 Author Posted January 18, 2020 (edited) I had them on high alright, and yep about the Translator 'waypoint" icons, they're for map-showtime ... The Waypoints, first on high: i tried to medium and low, because in another post i read that the Train flak does not shoot at the planes when set to high. Quoting you Sir!: ( but maybe you meant low for the train icons only?) ... ==> ADDED EDIT: set plane WPs to high, Train WPs to low. Train flak fires at the planes, thanks for the tip. Another one for Jim LoL. On 12/18/2019 at 11:31 PM, IckyATLAS said: After multiple tests I have seen that the Trigger Waypoint for Trains, Ships and Vehicles has multiple functions and one is to act as a Force Complete command. The Trigger Waypoint has as a primary function to create trajectories, define speeds , set altitudes and the Priority function for planes has the behavior of acting in different ways, like following the trajectory blindly (High) or evading attackers (Medium) or attacking the attackers and forget the next point. But this is not so for Trains, Ships, (Not tested yet on Vehicles). The parameter Priority of the Waypoint that can be set to High Medium and Low will act on Trains with railcars that have AAA and artillery on them and ships with guns like a Force Complete command for static Artillery or AAA to switch fire from No fire (High), Medium fire (Medium) and Full fire (Low). This explains why we had trains with armoured railcars not firing when running and attacked by airplanes. Probably because many of us set the Priority of the waypoints to High. Change it to Low and all the guns go blazing and firing like hell. Put four railcars on a speeding train with flak and machineguns and you will be torn apart when trying to attack it. You can also play with the AI level about the firing precision. So you can tailor the firing capability according to where your train goes. When he is in the middle of a city or in the country side and this just by adding waypoints with Priority set accordingly. Exactly the same with ships. If you take the destroyer and set a Waypoint with Priority to low, he fires all the guns ablaze to any target around him. So Trains, Ships firing issues is no bug. The Waypoint has been designed this way but this was not documented to my knowledge. At least I did not find this information on the forum and in Jim's manual. Edited January 18, 2020 by jollyjack
IckyATLAS Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 The train Waypoints Priority settings is for trains only. If set to Low the train artillery carriages will shoot the maximum they can to any enemy: plane, vehicle etc.. If you want them to shoot a lot but not be too deadly then set the AI parameter of the train to Low.
