If you could have any prop aircraft...

Hello all,

I've got a fun question for you today: If you could have any propeller aircraft added to IL-2 real or fictional what aircraft would you pick?

Alternative question: If you could take any propeller aircraft that made it past the prototype stages and make any kind of somewhat possible modifications to it, what would you do?

My answers:

A) The XF-84H "Thunderscreech"

B) I would take the C-130 Hercules and shove so many M2 brownings into the front of it. you could probably shove like 20+ in there! It'd probably be pretty useless, but boy would it be fun.

Well, as we have the Tempest, and the Typhoon and Hurricane are on the way, I'd love to finish off the Hawker line with a Sea Fury.

Still, if wishes were horses we'd all be eating steak.

I'm in the lucky position that basically all of my favourite aircraft are either in the sim or will be soon.

P-47D, Hurricane, Yak-9T, Mosquito. Battle of Bodenplatte, the recent collector planes and the Battle of Normandy announcements have been very kind to me!

A. Fairey Swordfish.

B. Twin tempest (like the twin Mustang or 109z)

Biggest thing missing from my favourites is a Beaufighter, which coincidentally would be perfect for the channel map we're getting

A Bristol Blenheim, either mark I or IV would be nice for a potential Finnish front expansion. And if this wish fulfillment ignores any obstacles to large, 4-engine aircraft then I would love a Short Sunderland, especially since the Normandy map would provide the English Channel to fly it over.

Don't know. Either a Bearcat or a Skyraider.

Both are super interesting aircraft and never been done properly on any sim afaik.

It goes well with my uniform.

Any freak of nature built by Blohm & Voss.

More realistically I really want the He-219.

If I can't have crazy seaplanes I want twin-engined grasshoppers.

Ju 188 or FW 189. Do 217 wouldn't be too bad either.

Other than the Zero, I would love to see the J7W In IL2. That thing looks wonderful.

Fw 189. It saw extensive service on the eastern front, and it's a beautiful airplane with an enormous amount of glass in the cockpit.

Single engine fighter would have to be P-36 and B-239.:drinks:

Twin engine would have to be the Bristol Blenheim Mk.I and IV because of the extensive use they had they would essentially fit most maps.;)

And, and, and, oh you know, build everything so we all get a favourite.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete.

It'd be tempting to call for something sane...

a missing aircraft that was ubiquitous (e.g. Fw-189, Il-4)

or an aircraft that would fill a needed gap (a slow two-seater... e.g. LVG C.II, Caudron G.IV, Voisin V, Morane L)

or to call for an aircraft that would open up gameplay we are unlikely to get otherwise (e.g. Lancaster for the C-6 to hunt)

But, I'd probably go for a Bristol Boxkite... excellent view, lovely handling, good for training WWI pilots...

Of course, since that is actually a rational choice (relatively easy to model... historically relevant as a pre-war trainer...) - I'll have to up my game and propose the Blériot design with a similar aerodynamic layout but with a passenger compartment made by a stage-coach company and mica windows (yes, rock windows)...

Yes, Mk 21 please... ?

No, I´m joking, a Mk 21 would be lovely, but I´d like this lady here even more:

Sorry Spit...

Does nobody want a B-26 Marauder or a Cat (a PBY that is)?
